Default Blu Concerts

Anyone else love concerts on blu-ray? I love firing up the home theater and rocking out! I have about 180 concerts on dvd but blu just blows them away! It's definitely a cool experience! I'm slowly building a collection on blu and I can't wait until they start releasing more...and more....and more. I won't be satisfied until I get Iron Maiden in HD!!!

Here's a list of what's out.

Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Music Hall
Elton John 60: Live at Madison Square Gardens
U2: Rattle & Hum
The Last Waltz
John Legend: Live at House of Blues
Celene Dion: Live in Las Vegas
Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour
Alice Cooper: Live at Montreux
Nine Inch Nails: Beside You in Time
Hymns for Peace: Live at Montreux
YES: Live at Montreux
Deep Purple: They All Came Down to Montreux
David Gilmour: Remember the Night
AC/DC: Live at Donnington
Justin Timberlake: Futuresex/Loveshow: Live from Madison Square Gardens
Destiny's Child: Live in Atlanta
Pat Metheny Group: The Way Up - Live
Incubus: Alive at Red Rocks
The Black Crowes: Freak 'N' Roll... Into the Fog
Bruce Spingsteen with the Sessions Band: Live in Dublin
Tony Bennett: An American Classic
Dispatch: Zimbabwe
Queen: Rock Montreal & Live Aid
Toto: Live in Amsterdam
Elvis Costello & the Imposters: Club Date - Live in Memphis
Legends of Jazz: Showcase
Chris Botti: Live (With Orchestra and Special Guests)
Muriel Anderson: Guitarscape Planet
New Orleans Concert: The Music of America's Soul
Robbie Williams: Live at the Albert

EDIT: Many MANY titles have been released since this original post. There are too many to add manually. Please find a current list here. Thanks!

Yeah, unless they start releasing them with Digital copies in a high quality audio format I'm just not interested. Or the artists I collect, I have a lot of concert DVDs. But I've never actually watched one. I convert them to Audio and listen to them.

The problem is that there aren't many concerts available on Blu-ray yet. I picked up David Gilmour's Remember That Night. It is fantastic.

I have the Justin Timberlake concert on dvd and then was browsing one day and it jumped off the blu-ray shelf. It was only $20 too! When I got home, I saw why it was only $20. It looks exactly like the upconverted dvd. It doesn't look like 1080 at all. It looks like they just transfered it to blu-ray with no upgrade in video. Hmmmm. Anyone else have this?

I'm with you in spirit, but it will be a while before I have a good sound system for the home theater.

I did get the Sprinsteen on blu - it is a good one. Even Mrs. Roach likes that one.

Yea, I love them too. Being a Jazz enthusiast, I have both "Legends of Jazz with Ramsey Lewis" and "Chris Botti Live". Great sound.

Anyone like me listen to these with headphones? I use the Grado SR-80s and the sound is awesome!!!

The BD looks pretty terrific to me (and noticeably sharper than the SD DVD). Peter Bracke thought so as well in his review on HDD. (Their site seems to be down at the moment, otherwise I'd provide a link to his review.)

I'll have to watch it again. Maybe I was just expecting more and was kind of disappointed at the time when I first watched it. I'll give it another shot!

p.s. Just got back 10 minutes ago with Dave Matthews. Last one at the store and it was hiding on me but I found it.

Love concert Blu-ray disk! I am also a Jazz fan and Legends of Jazz and Cris Botti Live are both incredible especially if you can put it through a high end sound system. I use them as demo and all of my friend's mouth literally drop when they experience the sight and sound from this two disks. I am sure it will sound incredible on high quality headphones.

I also have

Elton John
Celine Dion
Dave Matthews

I would say all of above are reference quality disk in sound and sight. I can't wait to get more. Sony please give me Dido! Oh and Blue Man Group too.

Well, the dimly-lit scenes, like the opening group 'discussion' and when the cameras go beneath the stage before and during the concert, are grainy (video cameras tend to get that way in low light) but the shots of the concert itself look pretty much flawless to me....

I have...

Elton John
Celine Dion
Chris Botti
Tony Bennette (coming)

I wish ELO/Zoom Tour would be avaiable on Blu-ray soon.
I also like watching classical music concerts. At this time, there's none to buy on blu-ray.

I highly recommend Grado headphones. I own the SR-80s and love them.
