Default Violin Concerts on Blu

I just got a new receiver and I really want to stretch its legs with a blu that is nothing but a symphony playing, prefably I would like for it to be a Violin concert but anything with a orchestra would be awesome. I've seen quite a few on here and can't make a decision as to which one to get.

any ideas

I found these two as well but they are sold out atm

Thanks!

These sound like they can be pretty cool. I cannot provide you with any recommendations but I would like to thank you for mentioning these. I'll have to pick a couple up and see if they are any good! What what!

I've got 'The Pyongyang Concert', which is a live performance of the New York Philharmonic's historic concert in North Korea earlier this year. (There's also a fascinating documentary on the disc.) The PQ is terrific and the AQ is great as well.

NP, I love orchestra music and work less than half a block away from the Atlanta Symphony and that is what has really perked my interest into getting a blu-ray of a performance since right now is the off season and a blu-ray is the closest thing I can get to being there watching them .

If you are from the "School of Immediate Gratification", you can find a copy of this at Barnes and Noble...I haven't opened my copy yet, but plan to do so shortly, after all of the positive feedback. It's a bit more costly at B & N, but I had some gift card money leftover.

I would like to thank the Great Leader Kim Jong Il for composing all that beautiful music and for inventing all those wonderful instruments to play it on. Also, thank you Great Leader for inventing the cameras and film on which this concert is recorded.

I might be wrong about this, but that disc looks NOT to be a film/video of a live concert, but either an audio-only disc or an audio disc with visuals of nature scenes, cute animals, or the like. (This latter type of video presentation I can't stomach--I'd much rather watch the artists performing.) If that's what you're looking for, go for it--I've got the equivalent recording (with the same artists) on an SACD (on the Philips label), which is great. (I don't know for sure if the SACD is the same recording as what's on the BD, but I suspect it is.)

it is a audio only disk, so it would be better to get a SACD of the same thing?

Cannot speak for the last mentioned one BUT with the price of some of these music BDs especially, I'll take SACD any day and leave my music listening phobia conclusive with that medium!

That would be my choice. (If you have SACD capability, that is.) Here's a link to this disc from Amazon:

You need a 20gb or 60gb PS3 to play SACD. The elblem will be on the side of the machine.

I know my PS3 will not play them :P

I was just curious if a computer could read a SACD.

I don't think there are computer drives that will read the SACD layer of an SACD hybrid disc (which this particular one is). They should have no problem reading the CD layer, though....

Why do Americans think that every dictator in the world is trying to imitate themselves?

Not a violin concert, but the Josh Groban: Awake Live Bluray has a part where Lucia Micarelli does an absolutely amazing rendition of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Worth checking out.
