Default Banana plugs for Onkyo TX-SR605 Receiver?

Hey guys and gals,

Me again. Now I'm wondering if banana plugs are necessary for this receiver (Onkyo TX-SR605). Can anyone who also owns this receiver please let me know? Ill be getting mine some time next week and have everything ready to go (wires, speakers, etc.)

Here's a link to the receiver. Simply click photo gallery on the right hand side and then click rear view for a picture with the connections.

Thanks,
CJS

Banana plugs are not required....if you want to spend the money wiring your speaker cables with banana plugs then go for it. It does make it easier to disconnect/reconnect them. However, for the rest of us, just plug the bare speaker wire into the terminal and you will be fine. How often do you disconnect/reconnect your speakers anyhow? Its a 10 min job to hook up all speaker wires from a 5.1 system. If that..

You donot have to use them but they are nice and if you get them from monoprice they will cost you $10.50 for 7 pairs.

they just create more interference and only worth the money if you plan to unplug and replug your speakers frequently

Good idea for DJ's and musicians.
Bad idea for home theatre.

Just gives it an industrial look.

Howdy :-)
Banana plugs will do a few things for you, first they will give you an easy to use jack to plug in to a female banana jack... and since they are color coded, they will help you finger out + or - on your cable more easily once they are all connected. As for necessary, not at all, but nice to have.
