according to this..
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001E95ZPQ/cdandvdba-20

....its Region 1, but, take that with a grain of salt...until it has been announced and someone here has tested it out, anything is possible...

JK - PRetty sure that's some sort of placeholder listing for the US Blu-ray that never materialized. There's no way the UK one is region 1 or more appropriately region A

Sorry though lnh_boy, I don't have any info on the UK BD. Do you know who's releasing it? Is it still Fox?

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Hopefully someone in Region B will pick it up soon and let the site know if it's region free or not.

Thanks!

My copy of city of ember has shipped. Waiting for it now to arrive. I heard fox canned there blu-ray release.

It is EIV who own the rights and so far to date all of there blu-rays I have brought they are NOT region free.

After hearing what fox done in the US I am glad that it was not fox in the UK who owned the rights.

Amen brotha. I've heard nothing but horror stories out of Fox for years now.

I don't have high hopes for a region free BD, but please update us when you get the disc.

Are you a fan of the books? I would say it is worth checking out in the theater.

Just checked since it arrived this morning and as usual with EIV releases it is region locked to region B only.

Tech Specs for anyone who wants to know is BD25, VC1 and DTS-HD MA 5.1

The disc is actually very good for an EIV release. Colour me shocked!!

By the way, Icon are releasing City Of Ember in Australia very soon. Keep an eye on it for region status.

Someone on AVS forum posted a BD info on city of ember from Australia.

The blu-ray release in Australia is 1080i 25fps encoded in AVC and is locked to Region B.

Full details are on the page bleow:

COE is 1080/24 on my UK version.

PQ - 4.0/5
AQ - 4.0/5

The movie itself is very closed in and its not until the last 25 minutes it really starts to venture out. Unfortunately its the end after that. I like the soundtrack alot and I think the acting is great.

For me this was a one time outing. I will not be watching it again. There is just too much faffing about keeping the story from progressing. Its almost like they needed to fill 45 minutes of the movie with anything they could put on film. The goonie esque moments were the best, but they were short lived.

For a fantasy movie it really took a while to get going, once it did it promised alot and delivered just a little.

Since sky captian mentioned the release in Australia I though I mention the specs to those who may not of found them.

Luckly EIV did their own and kept the specs to 1080P/24 which is the one I picked up and did a good job.

The German release reportedly is. I own it but haven't had a chance to try it.

Beware the Hong Kong release. I bought it many years ago, but discovered recently that none of my players or drives can even load the disc.
