is what right? that there was a region B Blu-ray but region A was never released in the US?

this is an old topic, but it's the most recent one

was looking around, found out it was released in Hong Kong not even a month ago, which means there's a region A release out there

So, I thought after finishing Silo season 1 I’d revisit this little Gem of a movie. So sad that all I could find was a dvd…How has this not been released in Blu? Anyway it looks great for a dvd and I really enjoyed it. Forgot that Silo’s Mayor is in this. Highly recommend it if you enjoyed Silo

Silo immediately made me think of this, despite it obviously just being underground and not in a silo. I kept thinking Tim Robbins was the mayor in CoE also but that was Bill Murray. Tom Robbins was Doon's father. But I kept confusing the two lol

It bombed pretty badly though didn't it? That's why I assume it didn't get a BD release in the US. There's a couple European sets that were region A compatible, I broke down and got the Hong Kong release about a decade ago since it's region A anyway lol With Saoirse Ronan's popularity, I'm surprised Fox never eventually released a BD.

Does your Hong Kong disc still work? I pulled mine off the shelf a couple years ago and discovered it was totally unreadable in all my players and drives. I picked up a couple of the European releases to replace it.

Just tested mine and yeah, won't read on my UHD or BD players. Doesn't even register that a disc is in. I wish the UK or Australian sets were A compatible, I don't particularly like foreign text on stuff. Couldn't find any cheap enough anyway, I'm not paying over $30 for it. Too bad Disney won't release it here. Oh well.

It's depressing how time flies. I remember wanting to see this when it came out. Seeing it pop up in new posts prompted me to buy a copy from Amazon today. Then I realized it's now 14 years old. Yikes.

I know necroposting is usually frowned on, but this thread rising from the grave caused a blu ray purchase. Thanks, everyone.

Bummer. I wonder if anyone in the world has a working copy of that release at this point, or if they've all rotted. I never even got to watch mine.

I know what you mean, Blu-ray still feels like a new format to me. I'm glad you're getting this movie now. It's a good one and it's a shame it's mostly forgotten.

The UK release would've been my go-to, but it's B locked... which is why I got the HK one lol

I feel like I watched it not long ago, but I think that's just the COVID thing, everything feeling both recent and long ago. I'd guess they're probably all dead, seems to even be OOP now. I had some Google Play credit so I just bought the digital version on Vudu while on sale since a disc won't be easy at this point... better than nothing I guess. Maybe if Disney ever licenses stuff out more we'll get a US BD.

It's a shame it didn't do well, I'd have liked having the other 2 (3, but one is a prequel) books adapted.
