I will use this thread to ask a question about my TV...
I use a PS3 60gig plugged in HDMI to DVI on my LG 44inches DLP HDTV RU-44SZ61D I've been watching a lot of movies on it, aswell as TV, and picture always looks great (even when I plug my analog cable directly on my TV !! It is a bit blurry, but WAY better than any LCD or Plasma TVs running on analog cable I've ever seen !!!) I just bought a PS3 with some Blu-Ray movies (Ice Age 2, Bridge to terabithia, Planet Earth...) and I must say that... I'm a bit disapointed ! I mean, the picture is perfect IMO... Clear, detailes... but it was really really good when I was watching DVDs, and I think the gap isn't THAT impressive !!! Is it because my TV is too good when dealing with SD signal that I've been used to that quality, or just because it is quite average in producing HD pictures ? Because where I work, we have a Plasma TV Panasonic 42inches plugged Component on HD Cable, and on some channels (not every... maybe one or two) I think the picture is quite impressive, even if noisy sometimes... It seems like the colors and the feeling of 3D are more deep than on my TV... I don't know how to explain, but... is it normal !?! hehe !! |

Perhaps you should give your TV an ISF calibration
![]() And if your tv is set for and SD signal, I'm not surprised you have a so-so image in HD. You must get your set calibrated for HD! |

ISF calibration ? :P calibrate it for HD ? :P Explain...? ![]() But is it possible that LCD and Plasma are producing a better HD quality over DLP ? Or HD is HD, it just depends of the quality of the TV and not the technology ? |

to have a ISF person to calibrat a tv is about $300+. http://www.imagingscience.com/isf-trained.cfm You can get this: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Video-...5004318&sr=1-2 There is a Bluray version coming out in feb/2008, but it is really not needed, colors don't change because it is HD, Sharpness will be the same as the hd version, over scan will not change because of a hd-disc, it just a way to sell new discs. This is a good cheap way to calibrat your tv(s). |

Oh I didn't say mi Ice Age 2 doesn't look great ! In fact, I compared a 480p and a 720p picture, and I saw the difference quite well !!! But it just doesn't blow me away... But maybe if I could compare the same movie on another screen, side by side, I would see that my TV is just as good :P
Maybe I'm just asking too much ^^ |
