Ive never purchased blus from amazon.com, but im definitely gonna start soon.

Its such a joke that most retailers here still dont charge US MSRP (numerically, ie $500 US MSRP = $500 CAD Retail) but its almost at the point where even THAT is not good enough considering how our dollar is murdering them.

Thumbs up

Just got the Spidy blu box set for $68.88 USD delivered! No taxes, no duty, arrived in just 3 days! Who needs the b.s. from Amazon.ca or any other Canadian site or B&M store. I plan on buying even more, after the initial experience with Amazon.com. To all of the Canadian gouger sites, screw off and die young!!

I buy from them quite often, but be sure to check out deepdiscount.com and their 20% off sale on now too - should be a bit cheaper too although it apparently doesn't count towards neilsons

only $5.95 per order to ship to canada (but possible duty)

Default What about duty, GST, brokerage fees, etc. etc?

I thought DVD's coming in to Canada from the US were subject to all this crap. Is it just Canada Customs hit and miss as to whether you get stuck with all these extra fees?

How does amazon.com ship to Canada - regular US Mail?

Not only is it cheaper on amazon.com (even with having to pay more for shipping) but there is no tax on it either. Books and movies are tax and duty exempt if you buy from the US because of a clause in NAFTA.

Movies aren't exempt, I pay duty on them from time to time from certain companies. We had a thread about this a few days ago, but Amazon.com basically ships them to Amazon.ca as a stock move which is exempt from duty, and then Amazon.ca puts a new label on and ships them to you. If you notice it should always be canada post labels on them when you get them. You have to use the standard shipping though.

Thumbs up I did it

Yeah, I did it this week too. I went to our local HMV looking to get Aviator, Ratatouille, Pixar collection aso. They didn't have The Aviator, even though it was two days into the release already. So I said #%&*# it! I am going to order from the states. Now I just have to wait for them to arrive. PLUS, Amazon.com has a much much bigger selection of titles then us here AND they are 30% OFF. So YES, go get them guys! It is worth it.
