Haven't played a DVD since the update, having said that I never found the PS3 upscaling up to scratch compared to the Denon that was in it's place before it.
Then again it might be that it upscales to 1080i and I always set the Denon to upscale to 720P which was a better match to the monitor for such tasks. |

I have yet to set my PS3 up to the internet.... Is there another way I can get the update? I got 1.94 off of Ratchet and Clank.

When using a memory stick to update make sure you make a folder on it called PS3 then a folder in the PS3 folder called UPDATE and put the file in the UPDATE folder. It took me a few trys to first figure this out. Plus there are always the instructions on playstation.com but who reads those. |

Go to www.playstation.co.uk (or .com if you live across the pond).
You need to go to the PS3 section of the site (obviously) Then at the bottom of the page find the "help and support" link From here you should find the update. I always update via PC (when SCEE bother to upload the UK update on time) using lightning download (free trial at download.com, but worth every penny/cent) as it downloads 10x faster than my PS3 in the past my PS3 has been on all day downloading an update, where lightning download has done it in less than 5 minutes. I'm on a 4meg broadband package (Virginmedia) although it never achieves that speed. Saying that our house has 2 Laptops, 1 PC and a PS3 linked up to a router. I believe there is a 'sticky' at the top of this forum with a link to different region's Sony website download page thingy. Check it out. Hope this all helps. |

Oh, and like flying172 says, you need to put it into the right folders
[ROOT DRIVE] /PS3/UPDATE You can update via any of the memory cards or a USB flash drive, a connected PSP or digital camera. You can even burn the update onto a finalised CD-RW/DVD-RW. Current updates are around 120mb in size, so its best to use a 128mb/256mb card at the very least. The update copies itself to the hard drive before installing. |
