Default Dreamworks' Jeffrey Katzenberg, Pricing Model for Movies Based on size of Viewscreen

I didn't know where to put this topic so bear with me. This isn't my idea but is coming from Dreamworks' Jeffrey Katzenberg who speculated on the future of movies and how much you could be charged for watching that movie based on the size of the viewing screen. Just when you didn't think it could get any worse, along comes Hollywood, and trying to find some justification to gauge moviegoers based on the viewing size of their smartphone, tablet, PC monitor, HDTV or theater screen.

According to Katzenberg:

Quote:
Those who watched on a "movie screen" would pay the most while those using smartphones would only pay a small fee, Jeffrey Katzenberg said. This pricing model will be common in 10 years' time, he told a US conference. The pricing model he suggested was $15 (£9) per film for a movie-sized screen, $4 (£2.40) for a 75in (190cm) TV and $1.99 (£1.20) for a smartphone.
This all comes from a BBC article: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-27223622

Would you pay $15 to go to a theater to watch a movie? $4 to watch it on your HDTV? This begs the question of whether Hollywood is considering not releasing content to home video or if you'll still have to pay this "$4" or more fee in order to watch a movie or TV show you already own on DVD or Blu-ray.

While movie ticket prices are bound to increase, as they have always done, the idea of charging consumers based on the dimension or size of their viewscreen they are watching it on doesn't seem that it could work.
