Default Profile 1.0 versus 2.0

Are version 2.0 blu rays on the market yet and how can one tell what version a particular disc is?

Profile 2.0 titles are any that have BD-Live features on it. Don't worry though. If you only have a profile 1.0 player it will still play the movie. A profile 1.0 player will not be able to access any "Picture-In-Picture" special features or BD-Live (online) special features.

so if I'm being told by Sony technical support that if a movie is 2.0 that I will not be able to play the movie it is untrue?

Yes, that is untrue, you will still be able to watch the movie. Just some extras of the profile 2.0 will not be accessible by the profile 1.0 player.

Hope that helps.

Most of the covers state that they are profile 2.0 on the back side. But as Peter said you won't be able to access the picture in picture and other features which interact in an online capacity.

I believe most of the profile 2.0 movies will say "BD LIVE" somewhere on the front or back cover.

Depends where you live..... U.S and some Canadian distributors change subtle things cosmetically.
