Default Hostages (CBS) -- Dylan McDermott & Toni Collette

"Pilot" - After Dr. Ellen Sanders, a prominent Washington D.C. surgeon, is handpicked to operate on the President of the United States, rogue FBI agent Duncan Carlisle and armed intruders suddenly take her and her family hostage. Scared and bewildered, Ellen soon learns the reason: unless she assassinates the President during surgery, her captors will kill them all, on the series premiere of HOSTAGES, Monday, Sept. 23 (10:01-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

HOSTAGES, from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, stars Emmy Award winner Toni Collette and Golden Globe Award winner Dylan McDermott in a high-octane suspense drama about Dr. Ellen Sanders, a premiere surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle. Ellen and her family are held captive in their home by Carlisle, a desperate man doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, who orders her to assassinate the President when she operates on him. His highly skilled accomplices include his brother-in-law Kramer, whose loyalty to Carlisle will be tested; quick-tempered and intimidating Archer, an ex-military man with a razor-sharp tongue; and the only woman involved, Sandrine, a mysterious last-minute replacement to the team. With her family's life in peril, Ellen faces an incomprehensible moral dilemma in order to save her overbearing husband Brian, her secretive daughter Morgan and her not-so-innocent son Jake. In this high-stakes standoff between Ellen and Carlisle, fraught with tremendous national and personal consequences, the choices between right and wrong become even more blurred.

Didn't see a thread for this. Thought I might as well get one going.

That's just speculation from a TV website, you made it sound like there was official rumblings from the networks. Yes, they are sometimes right, but I highly doubt they are canceling Hostages. It's only 15 episodes anyways and only 13 more to air.

666 Park Avenue was killed before all the completed episodes aired.

The Blacklist is so much better.

Every episode of 666 Park Avenue aired in the US. Just delayed, but they all aired.

I don't think it will be canceled. If anything, they might air it on Saturday nights or something. The cast tweeted they were filming a new episode today so production is still moving along.

I haven't seen Mondays episode yet, but CBS can't keep the show in this timeslot with a 1.2.

Unless they have a clear cut story arc that has to end at Hour 15, I think CBS will cut the episode order to 12 or 13 and then cut their losses and burn the show off on Saturdays. You can't put this on Fridays because if you did a trade with Hawaii Five-O and brought that back to Mondays, Hostages would end up hurting Blue Bloods ratings.

Another option would be to move up the midseason show Intelligence from it's February premiere date. However, that show may not be ready yet.

I really wanted to like this show but the last episode was just so boring, nothing exciting happen it was just really really slow and most of the actor's seem to be asleep when delivering their lines...like my wife said last night while we were looking at it, they need to do something..break the husband legs or hurt one of the kids...something...even the conspiracy isn't interesting at all...

Wait until episode 7. The teen son is going to be tied to a tree and beaten.

CBS is going for a new demographic.

It won't get a 2nd season, but it should finish it's 15 episode arc.

I have to wonder how Intelligence will do in this timeslot come February.

If you've made it through episode 8 of 15, you might as well finish it.

I still like it. I think it's a fun series. We really don't need a second season, but not like it was getting one anyways. I just hope it has a good conclusion.

CBS confirmed today the show will air all 15 episodes, and there would be a 2 hour finale.

HOSTAGES will finish its 15 episode season with a special two-hour season finale on Monday, Jan. 6 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

Why would you say it's wasting 1 hour? You could have just recorded it and watched it later if you can't stay up late.

There is a lot of TV tonight and premiering this week. I know not everyone can stay up late and watch 3-4 hours of TV, unless recording is not an option.

I plan to watch this tonight after it's recorded. I have to work tomorrow morning too. If I don't finish it, I'll watch it later.

This is one show this fall that has me interested. I have it recorded on my DVR but I'll wait to see how the ratings are before I take the plunge. One thing I hate is starting a show and it being canceled after 6 episodes.
