Default Any suggestions for a new bluray wireless surround sound setup?

Greetings, everybody. I was just wondering if anybody had any good recommendations for a new bluray wireless surround sound system? As of right now, I have a dvd surround sound with some video game consoles and the satellite box connected together. But the amount of wires has me wanting to go wireless, and I'd much rather get a bluray surround system now. I already have a bluray player hooked up to the surround sound, but if I have a bluray surround sound system, I can get rid of one bluray player and put it in another room.

My television and other electronics aren't fancy and expensive, but I plan on upgrading everything little by little, so the TV will probably be next after I purchase a new surround sound system.

But anyway, I'm looking for all the stuff you'd normally find in a surround sound, HDMI ports, composite/component connections, optical cable slots, etc. But it has to be wireless. I've done some research over the last few weeks, but I can't seem to find anything that fits my needs. Everything I come across is either wired, or has poor reviews, etc. So I figured maybe somebody here can point me in the right direction. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I don't have a lot of experience purchasing surround sound systems, so I'm not sure what to expect pricewise. I'm hoping or expecting to spend between $200-$350, but I have no idea if I'm spending enough or if I'm underestimating the money I will need to spend to get a quality system.

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is find a way to hide wires or run them discretely across the room, because wireless surround sound systems are not worth the money. Your wired home theater connected to the Blu-ray player would be better than a wireless system.

You just can't get anywhere near the same quality as wired systems, and if it drops in the middle of your movie, you will likely be upset.

If you want to eliminate wires, I would suggest a high-end wired soundbar before a 5.1 wireless system.

That's my advice too. Wireless speakers are funky. I ran wire conduit above the molding at the base of my walls and painted it to match. It just looks like higher molding now.

Thanks for the tips, folks, I greatly appreciate it. I think I'll find a way to hide the wires instead, but will also experiment with a soundboard and see what results I can get.

Thanks again.

Even over bluetooth you cannot get the same quality as a wired setup. The compression needed to get even a mediocre quality defeats the purpose of bluray.

This is why I laugh uncontrollably when people say streamimg has bluray beat with "4K" content. Better check thise but rates buddy.

Here is a nice article to show.

I say buy some zip ties and conduit, paint it...and pat yourself on the back that you didn't sell out quality over beauty.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. Just to touch base with what you said about streaming vs bluray, I can admit that streaming definitely doesn't beat bluray, just as you mentioned. I occasionally stream my digital movies on VUDU (when I'm too lazy to get up and put in a disc), and I admit the sound quality is horrible on streaming. The picture quality isn't as clear when streaming, either, but the sound is what bothers me the most. Although I like the convenience of streaming, I definitely prefer bluray.

The quality of streaming depends on the solidity of your connection to the streaming service and the quality of the master the streaming service's master. Sometimes they are streaming old masters, while the blu-ray is from a more recent transfer. Sometimes ISPs throttle Netflix, making it impossible to get the highest quality connection... or the connection might not be as fast in rural areas. But if everything is good, streaming can look and sound very, very close to blu-ray. I did an A/B comparison of Billy Rose's Jumbo on blu-ray and on Warner Archive Instant. I used that title because I knew Warner Archive would be streaming the same transfer as the Warner Archive blu-ray. I have a very good projection system with a 10 foot screen, and the two were pretty much indistinguishable from each other. It is possible at 1080p. I don't have 4K so I can't comment on that.

Ahhh, excellent, thanks for the info. That actually does make sense now, because I had recently streamed Sicario from Amazon, and the picture and sound was amazing. I definitely don't get that same sound from Vudu.
