Default So when will we actually see the evidence?

I was posting over at HDD when I realized something. If the 150 million number is true (and I've been assuming it is for the last 3 months), then there's got to be some paper trail in Toshiba's quarterly reports, yes? I mean, somewhere in their bottom line there has to be a section devoted to their high-def division. Has the quarterly report for that time already been released, or is it coming up soon? Has anyone checked into whether there are some anomalies in the numbers for that quarter?

Toshiba executive acknowledged payments were made to Paramount and Dreamworks per a quote in the Consumer Electronics Daily published by Warren within a week of the switch going public.

You'll never see a line item in the financial documents of Toshiba saying something like "Payoff to Paramount...150 million". It would most likely show up in Toshiba's overall marketing expenses and would be almost impossible to extract unless you had access to Toshiba's internal accounting system. Remember all those commercials/ads for Transformers dvd/hd dvd? Those most likely were completely underwritten by Toshiba/Microsoft as part of the payout to Paramount. It's a common business practice.

Dude they're not going to let anyone outside of company execs look at every detail of their financial transactions.

Thats just ludicrous to expect

It will be shuffled along in something like "marketing expenses"

yes, every transaction is in the annual and quarterly reports, that is why in Enron's reports there were full of line items like "bamboozled funds", "fake profits".....

Not exactly true....there are always auditors...they just can't disclose anything.

You mean there isn't going to be a header in they're accounting dept that reads:

Payoff to Paramount so that we won't die in 2007.

If it doesnt say that it should have!!!

HDD has gone quite downhill after AVS shutdown. All the HD DVD terrorists invaded it, such morons as HiDefJunkie and markman4 complement the beheading worthy trolls such as citrixguy, citizen erased, and geonosis there.
Anyways the only reason I look there anymore is for sales ratios and the terrorists reactions to getting crushed every week.

You will never see the $150M in Poshiba's statements, but only making 2.6M profit on billions of sales and a very profitable PC division tells the story

Toshiba is running scared. First the big pay-off and then the fire sale. Wonder how much more money they are willing to loose before their investors say enough is enough! The board of directors must be going... WTF?

wasn't it called "advertising consideration" so it shouldn't show up under their advertising budget?

Every Mafia outfit should be using this jingle. Maybe Toshiba is now in the business of writing off losses.
