Happy Monday all! We're mixing it up further here in the Factory and are traveling back to the 50s to bring you a pair of guilty pleasure B-Movie Creature Features. 1956's THE BEAST OF HOLLOW MOUNTAIN and 1953's THE NEANDERTHAL MAN will be coming to DVD and Blu (both for the first time on the Blu format) from us in the early part of 2014. No other details to report at this time.

Awesome! Here's hoping we get more vintage sci-fi/horror titles next year.

I love love LOVE the Slashers, but its nice to see a wide variety of horror films from each unique subgenre and decade being represented on blu-ray by the always amazing Scream Factory.

I couldn't agree with you more. I love the older titles and the some slasher films that Ive been getting have been an education for me. I hadn't ever since a bunch of them until Scream started releasing them. Now its time for the slasher lovers to get educated in 50s cheese !

Maybe there is hope for Angry Red Planet, Reptilicus, Yongary, Konga, Curse of the Faceless Man, Gog , Burn Witch Burn

Neither one of these films are all that good but they are fun (or funny) ..I need to get this !

Is the titular Beast breathing fire out of its nostrils? If so, in the grand tradition of misleading poster art, I assume that in the film it doesn't?

I'm happy for fans of these type of movies but some of their choices lately seem very curious considering the titles they said they weren't interested in.

These won't be big sellers but maybe they obtained them at such a low price point that it won't take much to make a profit.

No it doesn't happen in the film at all..and the monsters' walk is also kinda odd...check out a trailer if there are any on youtube...

Wow, I was just looking at The Neanderthal Man and others from a newly released "Movies 4 You: Sci-Fi" DVD pack from Shout/Timeless Media and was wondering whether they'd make it to BD one day.

Maybe we'll get The Brain that Wouldn't Die next

2014 is shaping up nicely. Hope Universal gets going on the monster sequels and we get more Hammer from someone.

I felt sorry for the tyrannosaurus in The Beast of Hollow Mountain. A lot of the best monster flicks arouse our sympathy for the monster, but this one goes overboard. That tyrannosaurus got a raw deal.

I don't see myself purchasing this set, but I'm always glad to see that some good old stop motion animation monster action released on Blu-ray.

Beast of Hollow Mountain, if I'm not mistaken, the "beast" doesn't make an appearance until much later. Its kinda slow, but its really cool and has a cheesy little payoff in the climax.

And the monster doesnt come until late in the proceedings ...
It did come out on DVD there is an expensive Import. I might get a movie photo of the dinosaur

This really does open the doors for more older titles doesnt it ?

Another vote here for THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE. Glad to see some older titles go Blu! Another great one would be THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED.

It's not O'Brien either. He did the original story, and the dino model may be from one of his projects though.

Here's a YouTube video of the final sequence of The Beast of Hollow Mountain (spoilers, obviously) with a written explanation about the special effects on the full link...
