Default Picture quality

Some movies look like crap on my TV, while some look normal. I turn everything on from the menus (Playstation 3), I have it set at 1080i, yet some DVD's (Even 1 or 2 BD's) just look all pixelated and bad. This wasn't the case with my normal DVD player. Anything I can do to help this?

Is that what you meant to say?

More info please.

None of my 82 Blu's look pixelated at 1080i but I'm using a CRT. Gotta be in the settings. Are you running HDMI? Maybe the versions aren't synching right try it at 720p and see if there's a difference. It really sounds like rates aren't matched up properly or as I say, the versions of HDMI/HDCP aren't meshing. Use as many 'Auto' settings on unit as you can first, then tweak from there.

You remind me of our clients that call and email me telling me in a frenzy that their computer is broken. They put in help desk tickets telling me the same thing - EMERGENCY - my computer is broken.

I call them up and they tell me their computer is broken.

You know what I ask them?

CAN YOU BE ANYMORE VAUGE?

Flat panel? LCD? Plasma? CRT? DLP? Black and White? Computer Monitor? VGA? DVI? HDMI? Component? Composite? Direct connect or through a receiver?

If you would like to give more info, that would be very helpful

I am not trying to be. If you want people to help you, you can't go to the mechanic and say my car is making a funny noise and expect an honest answer.

You need to give info before you get it -

I'll bet you something in your settings is expanding the "full screen" to fit your widescreen TV which will cause things to stretch. Unless, of course, you have a 4:3 TV. Anyway, that's my guess based on your details.

Whatever man, that situation is totally different because you want more information on my TV when it isn't even my TV. That's like going to a mechanic and saying my engine won't start and he says, "Uh huh, could you tell me more about the leather on your seats?"

Actually not really! You obviously don't know much about troubleshooting. The more info the better.

PS3 with what type of connection (HDMI, Composite), TV type (brand, display type, resolution).......the more information you can provide, the more likely you are to find someone on here that can help you.
If you say you have a PS3 and you get pixelation...that doesn't give any of us any info to help you.

Give us specs on all hardware, connections, specific movies that do this.
Do the movies in question always "pixelate" at the same exact spots on the same exact disc?

That info will likely get you an answer.
