Default A Boy & His Dog - Shout Factory VS Inspired Studios masterings?

Hi folks,

Can anyone comment on which is the better for P/Q out of the Shout Factory and Inspired Studios releases of A Boy & His Dog on Blu-Ray? I can get the latter much cheaper on import here in the UK, so I'd like to know if they're the same masterings or not?

Can anyone also comment if the Inspired Studios release is region-free or not? I've read the Shout Factory one is.

The "Inspired" version isn't listed on the US Amazon site, and the link indicates no release date.. I expect the Shout version is a better bet.

Considering the only other thing that Inspired Studios has released was a knock-off bootleg of Zulu, I'd say Shout.

AB&HD is public domain, so if you've never heard of the releasing company (and first the heck I've ever heard of "Inspired")...
Shout, I know.

The Shout disc has copyright info on it. Never heard it was public domain. The same company produced a knock off of Zulu, too.

And even that film was believed to be in the PD too.

That's a really weird "Blu-ray Disc" logo they have on the front cover.

I guess I was naive to think bootlegs weren't among blu-rays.

Good grief, been waiting for that thing to come down under $10 since release!

My understanding (from the Shout Boy release thread) is that the Inspired black cover release is godawful and the white Shout release is good. You can find many Inspireds on eBay for cheap...

I have the Inspired BD. It's poor-looking and an upscale taken from an SD source. I strongly doubt it's a licensed release, everything about it screams that it was knocked out somewhere by a single individual, in a garage.
