Netflix in on HDNA campaign

Got a Netflix movie in the mail today and the inside of the tear-away flap had an ad for Sony's HDNA campaign. It's a picture of a Sony LCD, BDP-S300, and the Spiderman 3 Blu-ray. Spiderman is on the screen, and the double-helix HDNA logo is in the middle. The text:

"Once upon a time, Sony created the best way to watch movies. The end.

Sony makes movies. Sony makes movie cameras. And now Sony makes Blu-ray Disc players so you can indulge your love of movies at home like never before. In Full HD 1080p High Definition. It's in our DNA. sony.com/hdna

Now browse the hundreds of Blu-ray Disc titles available on Netflix."

Just thought I'd share, it was a nice little surprise when I opened up the envelope.

I posted this before in another thread.

The BDA should get together with Netflix and offer a free 3-month subscription to rent blu-rays only for PS3 buyers so we can wake up those "sleeping" blu-ray players. The PS3 owner, who the HD DVD camp says are not real movie watchers, will get a glimpse of Blu-ray and might actually start buying movies.

Hmm. Current market cap of $1.63 billion. One billion (or a little more) might get a controlling interest. But, probably too many anti-trust issues.

I would think Blockbuster would be itching to do a deal. It would also give support to the largest B&M chain supporting Blu-ray almost exclusively.

Another option is to offer a free trial for either one in the box.
