Default Can anyone compare Netflix to Blockbuster total access?

I'm getting preety fed up w/Blockbuster. It takes like a month or two to get any new Blu-ray title even when at the top of your list before it comes out, and my store carrys some but, for example no Ocean's Thirteen this week. I mean am I better off going w/netflix.com over Blockbuster in terms of wait time for new BDs' and quanity, over Blockbuster? Anyone have first hand experience w/both in terms of new release titles?

No experience with Blockbuster, but it is not uncommon for Netflix new releases to take several weeks to become available, especially in a Hi Def format.

You can rent blus at their B&M store or online. Best thing is you can take your online movie and trade it at their store for one there.

I have had pretty good luck with Netflix. I'm not positive about this, but it seems like the longer you have a movie in your queue before it comes out, the faster you will get it when it becomes available on Bluray/ DVD. I will often get movies the week they are released and usually always get new releases within 10 days.

Edit: I've used Blockbuster Total Access as well and I hate going to the store so the whole in-store swap thing does nothing for me!

I had Netflix, but I was unable to get Blu-Rays. It always took forever to get anything on Blu-Ray. Now that I've switched to Blockbuster, who supposedly is Blu-Ray friendly. However, it's still taking a long time to get Blu-Rays. I still have not been able to get Spider Man 3.

My conclusion is that there are huge demands for Blu-Ray out there and these online rental places are not ordering enough copies.

I'm totally fed up with Blockbuster. I've had the following films in my que since June;

*Springsteen Live in Dublin
*Revenge
*The Patriot

These aren't exactly new releases. I switched to Netflix last week and received all three in a few days. I have to question how much Blockbuster is really helping the Bd cause. It would be no big deal if I could get the films in the store with the total access plan but the stock is pitiful. One copy of 300 and Spidey3. No Ratatouille, no Cars, no Close Encounters (just checked). Four stores in my area stock the Bd's and all have the same selection. Just pitiful.

I've already gotten and returned Spiderman 3 on Bluray from Netflix. That movie was the best of the three but still sucked huge. I suppose that is a topic for another thread though!

I had used Netflix for about two years when I suddenly switched to Blockbuster. I hadn't had any major problems with Netflix except for a couple busted discs. Blockbuster on the other hand had a major problem. I was only a member for two months and during that time, I had 5 discs fail to show up at my house. I had to wait a few days before I could report them as not showing up and then they would send me a new one. I finally canceled out of fear that they might start thinking I was keeping them. I thought someone might be snagging them, but I never had it happen to Netflix. I rejoined Netflix and it has never happened with them, only Blockbuster.

I have always had success with Netflix. There service is very quick but I am close to a distribution center.
Had disc 4 from season 5 of the Soprano's get lost in transit back to them and dealt with minimum headache over it.

ive used both, but i prefer blockbuster.

alot of the new releases take a while to send but being able to exchange movies in store is great. my blockbuster is across the street from where i work so i can just hop over there every day. the blu-ray selection in-store is nice, plus they usually get the new releases on time.

I'd definitely go with Netflix. I've used Netflix for a few years, although I just started getting Bluray discs within the past few months. There can be a long wait for Bluray sometimes, but if you time it right you can almost always get movies the day they are released. If I put a movie in the mail Saturday morning, my local shipping center receives it on Monday and will send out a new release(releasing the next day, Tuesday) and I'll get it on the release day. Just make sure that the new release is at the top of your queue.

Exchanging movies at your local Blockbuster sounds nice, but they never have anything in stock anyhow. Just one of the many reasons I haven't stepped foot in a Blockbuster in years. Go with Netflix.

Default I started with Netflix . . .

and I canceled because I started buying more movies.

When I realized that I wanted to preview more titles before buying I was going to start up Netflix again. Then we got the news about Blockbuster being a Blu supporter, so I tried Blockbuster.

In terms of rentals through the mail, Netflix is just a little better. But Blockbuster is a close second. The added benefit of the in-store exchanges and game rentals made me a BB customer again. They have the edge in overall value.

Initially, I loved Netflix's website. I didn't think BB would be any good, but theirs is Ajax-enabled too and very user friendly. The online experience is about the same.

Yet another Red vs Blue format war, LOL. The Red in this case (Netflix) is winning against the Blue (Blockbuster).

Lets hope this is the only battle that this Red wins

I remember reading something along those lines, so you're not crazy! I don't recall the specifics though.

Ive given BB several chances in the last 12 mo's and they sucked every time for HD rentals. Im very surprised the vote is so close.

My biggest issue with BB was my BD new releases all had long wait and kept getting skipped. After 3 weeks I dumped em again. Have had no issues with Netflix, only 1 days mailing time.
