Default 'Indiana Jones 6'

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Source Update On STAR WARS EPISODE VII ! Casting, The Twins And TWO More Indys !!

Here's the latest and greatest about the state of affairs regarding STAR WARS: EPISODE VII ! This all comes from my top STAR WARS source - the one who gave us the news that Lucas was planing a third trilogy in 3D (back in 2009), and that Lucas would not be directing. Quite frankly, I think he's been the top STAR WARS source for advance news for at least the past 5 years.

Here's what my source had to say about some of who will wind up being cast:
"Ian McDiarmid, Harrison Ford (our exclusive story), Carrie Fisher (our exclusive story), Mark Hamill (our exclusive story), Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Warwick Davies, Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman. I believe Cumberbatch and Oldman were pursued for the same role, but I don't know how that will work out with the script changes, but I'm told they are both involved."
- So yeah, Cumberbatch and Oldman too potentially. Awesome casting if all goes well.

"Regarding Harrison Ford, two more Indiana Jones features are in the negotiation stages as per Ford's contract clause on Star Wars, which is the primary reason he didn't 'publicly' or 'privately' commit, or so I'm told."
- There you go guys - TWO more Indiana Jones movies being planned, not just one. I'll try to get more info on this asap.

"Many Star Wars pre-production issues, an 'inadequate' central story which nobody would stamp off on, a problematic initial release date and an 'indecisive' director (J.J. Abrams) with the hardest gig in the industry. It's not going to be a cakewalk, but it will be a product shipping with the majority of its original parts."
- Confirmation of the current state of things.

"Ultimately it's about twins, and which will take a path towards darkness and which will follow in their fathers footsteps, or at least that is what it used to be, that may come later as I think changes are being undertaken to bring the original cast into the forefront of the story leading to ramifications that lead up to the next generation of Skywalkers."
- So we could be seeing an evolution of the story with the availability and willingness of the original cast plus the fact the Abrams is notorious for changing dogma (*ahem* STAR TREK). When Lucas handed Disney the keys to STAR WARS I believe that dogma was intact but now it seems changes may be afoot. We'll see. In the meantime, MarketSaw will continue to be your best site for advance news on the STAR WARS sequels. I have 100% confidence in this source. If he says it's happening, it is happening. Right now. Of course things could change especially with JJ at the helm, but as of this very second - this news is up to date.

I though Spielberg and Lucas already made Indy squeal like a pig. They're going for two more go's?

Without Lucas, and possibly even Spielberg if he isn't in for it. But Ford wants to do them, so there's that. I'm all about it, especially without Lucas, only in the fact that I think that we need fresh ideas and people to help take Indy forward. Lucas' insistence on having aliens in 'Indy 4', and considering that's one of the biggest complaints of part 4, moving on without him is probably for the better. I'm game, as long as the Ford is.

I'm down for two more Indy films with Ford. Even if they only make one more, I'm happy, because there will inevitably be a reboot some day down the line.

Would love to see Spielberg in the director's chair - Indy wouldn't be Indy without Spielberg and it'll "feel" different otherwise - but I'd understand if he wants to pass another one up. Spielberg and Ford should reunite for at least one more, put their all into it and make a great film, and have Indy go out on that.

After that, I'd be fine with a reboot. May be sacrilege to say, but if they can get a charismatic actor who could do Indy justice, get a great director, and - most importantly - infuse the same spirit and energy of the Ford films into any new ones, I'd love to see more Indy on the big screen. And that's coming from an undeniable Indy fan.

PS: I'm glad Shia has supposedly sworn off blockbusters. Keep Mutt out of it.

I wouldn't even say reboot. Why not make a series of Indy films that are set before 'Temple of Doom' and after the last episode of 'Young Indy'. It would be a good place to explore, and I'd love to see what they'd do there. That way the recast makes sense, but we don't get rid of what came before. Just my thoughts.

It's a shame River Phoenix died, because he was 100% believable as Indy and could easily have taken over.

I suppose I was cautious to use the term "prequel" in concerns to a Lucasfilm property...

But right on, agreed. That's the best way to go.

Well I'm glad episode 7 is refered to as a "product" now. At least studios are being honest now.

All movies are products...Sorry to say, but it's true. It's an art, and a product.

If they really make two more wonder if it'll be a two-part movie like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay? I'd imagine both will have to be shot back to back given Ford's age, and I'd love to see the series have an epic finale like that.

But really though.

Big difference between developing a film for a product and devolving a product for a product. Star Wars is an art in the same way a commercial for action figures is art.

Lucas made 'Star Wars' about toys long before anyone else did. But Abrams wants to make 'Star Wars' good again, hence him making such an effort to get a good story and script. To me, that speaks as art, not a product, whether you happen to believe it or not. But again, it's always going to be looked at as a product by the studio. Most films are.

(Most films are not very good)

We'll see if Abrams can make something memorable. But with a studio more interested in making a product with any art as a side effect, I'm not bracing for greatness.

All these people will complain about every single movie made. But they will see them anyway. So who wins in the end?

I wasn't trying to be smart or anything. We should at least see Indiana jones 5 BEFORE they start talking about a 6th one.

Do you keep track of such things?

Thanks for our dose of hyperbole. Every other comment seems reasonable now.
