Arrow Do PS3's count as blu-ray players?

Ok, hold back the venom and keep reading. My intention here is to prove they should in fact be counted as players. This should shut up the FUDers and rabbid red campers once and for all. No offense to our neutral buddies.

Example:
Most of know you can make a Video CD (VCD), pop it in a compatible DVD player, and watch video off a CD. Ok, Cool.

Now, pop that same VCD into your music cd player. What happens? It's a CD, right? This thing plays CD's, correct? Yes on both accounts. The difference is it is a dedicated music player only. Therefore, it can not count as a VCD player. Let alone a DVD player.

Now, take a blu-ray movie and pop it in your favorite standalone blu-ray player. No miracle here, it plays. Pop that same BD into a PS3 and, wow, it still plays. Why? Because IT IS a blu-ray player - not just game machine. If it were an exclusive gaming device, then PS3 blu-ray would only read data file formats. But it is not exclusive to reading just data files, it plays BD movies. Therefore it is countable as a blu-ray player. Albeit, a hybrid one.

The only high definition player which do NOT count as a blu-ray player is HD DVD.

Case closed!
