Default NiubNiub Theater: The Making Of - Phase I & Phase II

I had a few requests to show how my Home cinema came to be, so instead of sending 20+ PM's I thought I would share the nightmare - ugh I mean - Renovations with you all. Well at least those who want to see ;p

I bought the loft in 2007 1 week before starting work on Transformers. Upon my return to Montreal from ILM in May, I started demolition of the walls, soundproofing the floor and building my dream theater. I actually bought the Loft because of the huge 30' x 9' front window space. It looked 2:35 and I knew I could find a way to keep the sun coming in during the day and at night watch a movie or play some PS3, but I'm getting ahead of myself...

let's start with the soundproofing and demo dating back April and May 2007

^^^ Putting up a plastic barrier that in the end won't keep that much dust out of the rest of the loft - LOL

^^^ First thing was to remove the hardwood floors, shame cause they were in great shape, but I needed to have the cinema Soundproofed for the downstairs family ( I live in a 3 unit loft, me being on the penthouse top 3rd floor)

^^^ Claude ripping the floor took longer then planned, the previous owner must have put them down herself as there were 5X the number of nails a pro would put.

^^^ After 2 days we had the floor gutted to expose the cement floor

^^^ I was happy to get rid of this monstrosity - LOL - Truth it looked ok for a dining room, but not for a home cinema.

^^^ I thought the floor was a pain to remove, these tiles were cemented to the CEMENT !!!! WTF !!!! How much easier it would have been had it been secured to plywood base.

^^^ This took 4 days !!!! to remove, even with a jack hammer. Ugh that sucked removing the tiles

^^^ Cinema Guest Bathroom and Laundry were merged into ONE room, so I had to tear down this wall.

^^^ Claude peeled the Gypse off the wall in 1 hr. If only the rest of the Cinema was built as fast ;p

^^^ Insulation removed, time to remove the metal 2x4's

^^^ All walls are down, we can now move on to the Soundproofing...
