Its always the garbage movies that make the most so Im assuming it'll make a ton. How anyone can watch a preview for this movie and be like "damn I GOTTA SEE THAT" boggles my mind

Agreed. I could barely sit through the trailer. A boring cartoon.

$112 million opening weekend as executives in the MCU high-five each other and dive into piles of $ Scrooge McDuck style.

If there is any hope left for us as a society Captain America will be a complete and utter bomb. Sabotage will rebound and be the number 1 movie of the weekend.

Captain America= 96 million (will definitely do better than Thor 2 as the character ism t as silly and more accessible) I think it will do over $250 domestic easily overall.
Noah= $22 million
Divergent = 11 million

Thor 2 made $85 in it's opening weekend, so I'm going more modest here and say it'll be in the $65-$70 range.

Of the Phase 2 movies, Captain America has the most positive buzz going for it, but it also has Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 both being divisive going against it.

I would love no know in what world 1.5 billion (5th highest grossing movie of all tie worldwide) , very good critic reviews, and an A Cinemascore is considered divisive

Well, I wasn't exactly excited by the trailer for the first Cap flick, but once I saw it (on Netflix or iTunes or something, don't remember) I enjoyed it a lot. I mean, it's no X-2, Spidey 2, Batman Trilogy, X-Men First Class, or anything like that. But it's fun and charming and who the heck doesn't like seeing NAZIs getting the snot kicked out of 'em?

Now, I have some doubts about this new one. The WWII setting was a big part of the charm of the first one. OTOH, this one has not only Scarlett Johansson, but Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, AND Hayley Atwell. So, make a big mark in the + column for the sequel!

As to the poll, I voted $75M only because I think that the fact that this will be Final Four weekend might take something out of it. A bit.

Iron Man grossed as high as it did because it was riding The Avengers coat tails. And the fan response was extremely love it or hate it.

And if Thor: Dark World is an indicator, it's already showing that the momentum is dying off. It did better than the first film, but didn't come close to match Iron Man 3.

I'm lowballing my prediction with $77M. I'd love to see at least "Thor: The Dark World" numbers by the end of Sunday.
