Hey Crazy!

You've got a terrific setup and I love the way you're always tweaking your system. Your latest acoustic treatment project has been well-documented in various threads, and I'm sure the improvment in sound quality was dramatically positive.

Is it an optical illusion, or are those front panels "curved" or "bowed" at all?

John

Morning John ! Yes they are . The front panel does have A curved angle to it slopping slightly backwards , The tweeter & midranges are angled upward slightly .This pic shows the angle

Thanks for the kind words sir !!

You're welcome buddy! You certainly deserve the kudos with all the work, time and effort you've put into your rig.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts on the "curved" or "bowed" design of your Boston's. I like the look of them and am a bit surprised more manufacturers don't incorporate that feature. I suppose Boston Acoustic had a specific purpose in mind for doing this?

You are welcome ! I'm sure Boston found something in the designing of the Horizon series towers that worked well sound wise ! It's not the prettiest speaker buy all means ! one of the strange things is the bass port is fairly large & oval shaped in the middle , half way up on the back of the speaker , centered between the woofers & passive radiators !!

I've moved the VRC & VR2s into the gamroom (need to update pics). Overkill for that room for sure, but very nice. Rockband will never be the same.

Thank you for this info. I went to my local Sears yesterday and the wife bought me a combined Father's Day/birthday/Christmas gift.

HS 450 towers $93.97 ea
HS 40 surrounds $26.97 ea
HS 255 center $98.97
HPS 10SE sub $84.97
grand total w/tax $451.37

The old Boston setup will go in the spare bedroom. I still have in-walls for the rears.

I have two boston hps12ho 12 inch subwoofers and for what I paid for them I am very satisfied. They are very musical with tight accurate bass. They are not boomy at all. I absolutely love them. My uncle introduced me to boston acoustics in the 80's early 90's when boston was more of a high end company and only seen in audio shops. I love them.

The full install won't be completed until a week off in August. The wife wants to paint and we need a new plasma stand with shelves underneath. For the time being, I will remove the old speaker/sub setup and replace with the new ones. Once again, a big thank you to starkent08 for his post regarding the clearance at Sears.
