Exclamation How NOT to show off BLU to the masses.

For the love of BLU.

I was in Best Buy (yes, you, you idiots) yesterday and they had a setup to show off BLU.

Guess what they were showing.

Cars? No.
Ratatouille? No.
Pirates? No.
Planet Earth? No.
Anything else that's at least 4 star video? Nope.

They were showing House of Flying Daggers.

Are you kidding me?

It looked like complete CRAP!

While I enjoyed the film, the video (as you might know) is about 2 stars at best.

I about puked. It looked like a SP VHS copy on the TV.

Luckily, I've become friends with someone there (thanks to my 3-a-week visits). He went to management to be put in charge of the display (I sold him on BLU).

For all that is holy, check your retail stores and make sure they are showing good movies. It's up to us.

Did you tell him to put cars in for the demo?

I mentioned a couple "acceptable" titles.

Plus Cars would be a great selling point. Kids see it, parents ask.

You show off BLU and then say: "Also, you can only get Disney on Blu-ray."

Sold.

the circuit city by me did the same thing, they were playing HOFD as an "audio demo" but advertising blu ray on the tv. almost made me go to the other side. before i became more informed.

The saddest part, HotFD is a beautiful movie, both in the visuals and audio. I was blown away by the DVD and would consider it a "reference" disc. So, one would think the BR version should be spectacular.

Now, I admit, I haven't gotten around to checking HotFD on BR, but I do plan on picking it up. That being said, from the numerous reviews I've read, I believe I will be disappointed. Here's hoping Sony does a remaster.

I expected the same thing. It was the biggest letdown of my BLU life.

On a good note, Curse of the Golden Flower was amazing.

There MUST be a new version released. I got mine for cheap and I'm still disappointed.

Heck, even if you aren't trying to sell blu, put something decent on it to sell the TV to someone.

It' boggles my mind whenever I would walk into a store and they were playing regular sable on an HDTV. YOu aren't going to convince anyone to upgrade if things don't look much better.

Pixar movies were made for selling video display equipment!!! They just happen to also have a great story and characters to make the sales pitch.

LOL I am constantly giving our Home Theater sales team shit for some of their choices of HDM they use as "demo" material. Can't seem to get it through their skulls that the movies they open are meant to show off the player and or the TV, not to entertain them
