It’s FMV. It’s like a SEGA CD game on steroids and is played with a phone/tablet.

Does anyone know what happened to the playlink game Erica? It was a live action game you controlled using your phone. Looked interesting but it's no longer on the store, anyone know why?

I just had a PlayersLounge survey about it wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Still haven't played any of these Play Link titles though so not sure if I'd pick it up.

Are you sure they dropped the playlink stuff? Then why does the ps store say smartphone app required? I want this only if I can play with my dual shock,and no smart phone or internet.

As in the branding, it used to have the big PlayLink banner across the top of the cover art, though there is no cover now I guess if there's no physical release? PSN product page does say it is DS4 compatible.

Got it from LRG. I don't like it, but I'm stuck platting it now.

The story is boring and I didn't even understand it on the first playthrough. After a 2nd and reading guides I understand it a little better.

The controls are just terrible. You have to use you finger and the touchpad like a mouse. The touchpad is very bad for this. There are no alternate controls, like using the analog sticks. If you mess up your decision which is very easy to do, you are just stuck with it. There are no progress saves. You gotta finish with that mistake or start over. A lot of decisions are timed to so you're trying to rush which makes it worse.

Now yes there's an app on your phone but that cannot be used on the PS5. It only pairs witch PS4s. So after my first playthrough on PS5, I switched to the PS4 and used the app, and yes then it is a lot easier to control. But it annoys me off they couldn't just let you use the analog sticks like most point and click games do. It's hard to pause on when using the app too (options on the controller no longer works) so to pause I just resorted to the PS button to get out of the game.

I need 4 more playthroughs to plat it, maybe more if I mess up a choice.

I don't recommend the game.

Sorry to see that you had basically the opposite experience with Erica that I did back when it came out originally. I've played very little in the way of FMV games, but I do remember really enjoying this one.

I wouldn't have minded if Sony published more than just Erica as the developer's next game is just on mobile at the moment as far as I know (Hush), and I don't do mobile gaming.

Sorry to hear you have to suffer through games you don't enjoy playing for those digital platinum trophies. That stinks. Hopefully by the 4th game it's more fun maybe.

I probably would have enjoyed it better if it had normal controls for an FMV.

Well I understood the story a little better after 5 playthroughs lol. But I didn't really like it.

I can see from reviews though I'm kind of on an island here, a lot of people liked it.

I can imagine if it takes off, we'll be flooded with Hollywood movies with choices to make, rather than video games with graphics.

EDIT: This game was $4.99 on PS Store last week or so.
