Def interested in this, however the wording on this kinda concerns me. Are they saying that some of the set will be DVD only? I'm really only interested in the cartoons, but not if it's DVD only.

Hopefully it means a dvd box set and a seperate blu-ray box set. Like you, I only want the cartoons and if they are in sd, I already have them.

had this on DVD years ago. Really only like The Return of the Pink Panther but I may revisit the DVD's and debate buying this...

I'm excited for this - have the dvd set - but the wording also leads me to believe they will again neglect the serviceable Arkin film in favor of the garbage put out after Sellers' death.

Worst case scenario is they throw in the existing The Pink Panther Blu-ray and all the other films are still the SD DVD's. From the wording it's hard to tell. I would love to get A Shot In The Dark and Return of the Pink Panther in HD!

Will this set include The Return Of The Pink Panther, however? MGM owns all rights except home video rights which are with Universal under the Focus Features division. Would be nice if MGM could just sub-license the title from them just this once.

And I'm guessing just the Sellers flicks then (no Inspector Clouseau, Curse, and Son)? And what about the cartoons; will they be in their original full screen formats (which I prefer) or in matted widescreen (as they were shown theatrically) and will there be work done to find non-laugh track versions of several shorts (like Shocking Pink or Trail Of The Lonesome Pink)?

Sorry if I sound like a downer. Personally, I'm excited for this and even more excited that the cartoons are coming to Blu-ray (which I thought would never happen).

Ans should the set include only the films with Sellers (with the addition of Return not being in the set), maybe Shout! can release the remaning films.

My two cents.

I'm sure MGM/Fox will issue separate BD and DVD box sets for this collection (as they did this year with Bond movies ). So don't worry about it.
Judging solely by the Liz Smith's column, it seems we will get all of the Peter Sellers's "Panther" movies
[Show spoiler]"DVD-Blu Ray box set of all the Sellers Panther pics"
which means Universal's The Return of the Pink Panther should be included in the box as well That would be awesome.
Also, it looks like they will not bother put non-Sellers "Panther" flicks into the box. Good riddance, I say
i've watched HDTV Rips of few Seller's flicks (HDNet's been running some of them lately) and they look very good to me So, HD masters obviously already exists.
As for the movies, they are among my childhood favorites, so it will be worth picking up for the nostalgia factor alone. Few of them actually exceeds the original in quality (especially A Shot in the Dark). Anyway, this should be a real treat for all PP fans

Dammit, I just bought the classic cartoon DVD set last month but at least I got it on sale for $20, I just want the cartoon, not interested in any of the movies, I never thought Pink Panther will be released in Blu-ray so that is a very nice surprise! Time to sell the Pink Panther set! Whoops, I did not read it throughly, I guess I will keep the box set then since it will be all included and I have not seen the movie since I was a kid but I am afraid it would not hold up well....

I see a couple of people expects lots of cartoons in this set. They don't mention how many cartoons is included so it may just be a couple. (The old DVD set has five cartoons)

It would be great if I'm wrong, but I wouldn't get my hopes up until we see an actual list of the content.

Either way it's a set I'm looking forward to.

I doubt the set will include all 124 cartoons, not to mention the spin-off Inspector cartoon series or The Ant & The Aardvark series, so I'll be keeping the DVD box set for that.

Here's hoping it's truly Blu-rays for all the films. I can definitely do without Trail, Son and the two Steve Martin films, but the box would be worth it for the original film (which I never picked up), A Shot in the Dark, Strikes Again, and Revenge.

I even like the Alan Arkin starring Inspector Clouseau, so here's hoping they throw that one in like they did on the 2008 DVD set.

Maybe we'll be REALLY lucky and they'll license Return from Universal.

It's about time we get all but the original on Blu-ray. I have the DVD set of the movies, but I'd be willing to upgrade to this.

For the previous DVD collection, I seem to remember non-US editions having one or two Peter Sellers documentaries that were not in the US version. Curious if any of that makes it here...
