Default Regarding the first five X-Men films on Blu...

What are the best versions to own if I'm looking for a slipcover, all extras, and a UV copy? I saw these at Fry's today:

While these all have both slips and UV codes, I'm unsure about what extras are included. The back of the box for movies 1-3 lists a second disc of special features, however reviews on Amazon seem to indicate that this is false advertising. Can anyone confirm or deny? Is there any release of these films as individual releases (no box sets) that absolutely includes a slip, UV, and bonus features?

I think all of the discs are the same.

Yeah, I see nothing to indicate that these editions have the bonus features discs for X-Men 1, 2, or 3. Better stick with the 2009 releases for those.

Also at least the 2009 edition worked as a disc to digital though VUDU for me, so that's also an option if you want a UV copy of the first trilogy.

This is a hard question to answer. Is there one release that has ALL of those things? No. You'll have to give up one. The 2013 individual releases have really nice slipcovers and matching cover art, and the 2nd disc with extras included, but no UV. The re-issues since then took out the 2nd disc of extras but have the UVs. Myself, I would stick with the 2009 box set, where you get 3-disc versions of all 3 movies and iTunes digital copies, but it's really up to you, there is no one release with everything you're looking for, Fox does that on purpose a bit hence the re-release cycle.

Just as an FYI, the ITunes copies included with the 2009 are SD only if that makes a difference (I give them to my brother so he could rewatch them all before DOFP and know he was a bit ticked off they weren't HD).

But yeah, I would go with the 2009, and if you specifically need UV copies and/or digital HD spend the $6 (or $3 if converted with other discs as I did) for VUDU D2D.

For all the extras get the 2-disc sets for 1, 2, and 3, and if you really want the uv for all of them the uv editions can be found fr cheap, keep the codes and just sell the disc. Might be cheaper than doing the disc to digital. I just bought the uv versions of all 6 (including origins) for about $5 each, and am just selling the discs on their own.

I got new editions with new (bad) covers and they had both discs for 1-3. I think you'd be safe, especially if it says so on the back of the box

I think it's just the box sets that only include disc 1

I never said that. I said that all of the available discs are identical.

Back when The Wolverine came out in 2013 they released X-Men 1,2,3 and Origins-Wolverine with new slips plus the first 3 were 2-disc sets but no UVs though

First Class was only 1-disc but I got the Target Exclusive slip with bonus DVD

As for DOFP just get The Rouge Cut with slip and UV.

As someone else said, you have to give up one of your demands. All the extras were on the original trilogy set which came in a slip box but you don't want a box set. The re-releases since them drop the bonus discs it seems. "You can't always get what you want..."

Actually, the BEST releases for 1, 2 and 3 are the UK releases which have more extra features.

I can confirm 2 & 3 of the faces release do not include the second disc even though the back of the slip and cover say they do. I returned mine to best buy for that reason.

Appreciate the input. I hadn't considered using Vudu's D2D program to get the UV copies. Only thing is I don't have a Blu-ray drive in my computer, but I'm sure I can figure something out. So since that leaves me with needing a slipcover and the bonus discs, sounds like either the 2009 or 2013 releases of the original trilogy are the way to go. Since Origins and First Class were always single disc releases, I assume every re-release since their original release retains all bonus features. I'm also sure there's no way in hell Amazon or anybody is still shipping these movies with slips, so I guess I'm gonna have to play the waiting game and keep an eye on eBay. I was able to buy Days of Future Past yesterday because it had a nice slip and everything else I require. I'll just have to wait to watch it until I've seen the previous six movies.

FYI, the version of First Class you have pictured in the OP is actually barebones, so avoid that version.

Really? So they went through the trouble of making a new disc to remove the special features rather than just use what was already available?

It's actually not a new disc. For some reason, they decided to use the disc they made for Wal-Mart that was released the same day as the standard release.

Why? I have no clue.

Does anyone know which release of X-Men Origins and First Class contain the most extras then? The Target exclusive for First Class looks like it's got the most since it has the additional DVD, though I'm not too sure about Origins.
