On a side-note, I've completely lost track of when movies come out in the theaters versus on disc, or whatever.

What is the last movie of his that you do like? Do you only like his body horror movies (ex Naked Lunch and earlier)?

I was very big on History of Violence/Eastern Promises and liked A Dangerous Method a lot more than most people, so I'm guardedly optimistic about this. The trailers looked AWFUL but I heard some very positive reviews from people who are big fans of the likes of Crash (1996) and said this fits right in with his filmography.

New Cronenberg stuff always fascinates me, so I'm excited to check this out eventually.

This film is amazing, but it isn't a horror movie in the typical Cronenberg manner. It's more like Todd Solandz or David Lynch. I work in the film business, and this is one of the best depictions of what it's really like since Day of the Locust.

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. It's definitely worth watching for Julianne Moore's performance. I'll pick it up just because it's Cronenberg.

I love Cronenberg and this was the biggest disappointment of the year for me. Nothing quite worked outside of the acting and Julianne was wasted really. It could have been a lot more, and interestingly enough what I think was lacking was more of Cronenberg's touch. He seemed lost here. I anticipate a second viewing though

I haven't seen this yet but it can't be any worse than Cosmopolis or his son's Antiviral (which probably would have been a straight-to-DVD title if not for the Cronenberg name).

Eh, family member films should never be brought up as a point of comparison when talking about a director's work IMO. You can't blame him if his son's movie stunk!

I still haven't watched cosmopolis, I've heard so much bad stuff about it I'll probably end up liking it just cause my expectations are so low. I have had the bluray for about a year and a half now and it just sits on the unwatched pile

Cosmopolis was really good. His son's film Antiviral was alright, although I felt that the concept was greater than the execution.

Anyway, us folks in the UK will be getting a Blu-ray release next week so I'll pick it up soon.

Despite thinking Cronenberg might have lost his touch (didn't like A Dangerous Method and hated Cosmopolis), I can't wait to see this.
