Default Acronyms Suck - Learn to Type!

I don't know if anyone else feels the same but there are so many threads and replies I read that lose me along the way because so many people short form words -using acronyms- that I can't be bothered half the time to figure them out and move on.

It works for names of companies or license plates but not typing language or conversation. Learn to type folks.

Theres a reason people like to use acronyms such as TBH, IMO as they help reduce the time it takes to type & even though you don't know or maybe want to know what they mean, how bout the people who use them gave you the response to learn them & then you'd be more comfortable

It's not actually hard to pick up what they mean & can be done by asking somebody who uses them, most are very common you'll find

wtf man . in honesty, i've been on the net using IM and forums since i was 13. acronyms and abbreviations are a second language to me. combine with being one handed, it saves a lot of time and effort to use them even though i do try to be clear in what i'm saying and use them as little as possible. of course, i rarely capitalize... bad habit there.

At first I thought that might be a somewhat subdued reference to enjoying certain internet perks, but then I also noticed the screen name and figured it was much more literal.

It's pretty ridiculous, I wish people would spell. I was reading a thread and they were discussing EE, and I'm thinking it's edge enhancement and didn't make a whole lotta sense, EE stood for extended edition this time around. Or someone's talking about BB. Well, is BB Best Buy or Blockbuster? It's used both ways. FF is either Fantastic 4 or Final Fantasy. Cod is a fish, not Call of Duty. And I always get mixed up with LOTR, FOTR, TT, ROTK, I can't keep any of those straight.

For the most part I totally agree. I'm not a big fan of acronyms, especially when they get integrated into speech. Oy.

LOL, this thread is amusing!

IMHO these acronyms can be helpful in the right context. But if they are mixed in with horrible spelling and grammar, than it just compounds the situation.

Learned a bunch of them since joining this site...
FUD & BOGO seem to be the most common ones!
