Default Seth MacFarlane’s Western Comedy A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST

Quote:
Actor/writer/director Seth MacFarlane is roping in some Oscar-caliber talent for his second directorial feature film. Charlize Theron is in talks to star in the western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, which MacFarlane will both direct and star in. The story centers on a farmer whose girlfriend leaves him after he chickens out of a gunfight. “When he meets the wife of a notorious outlaw who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer at first sees a chance to win back his love but slowly falls for the woman. Complications ensue when the outlaw returns and reclaims his woman.” Hit the jump for more details.

News of Theron’s casting comes via Heat Vision, who reports that the actress is in final negotiations to star in the film. This sounds like spot-on casting for Theron, who has a wicked sense of humor and has proven herself to be a formidable badass. In addition to starring in and directing the live-action comedy, MacFarlane also co-wrote the script alongside Ted and Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. He’s currently busy preparing for his Oscar hosting duties in late February, but a May production start date is being eyed for A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Theron most recently wrapped a starring role in George Miller’s long-delayed Mad Max: Fury Road and she’s also set to lead a remake of Park Chan-wook’s Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, which she’s producing. MacFarlane has a sequel to Ted in the works, but it appears that A Million Ways is his current priority.

I thought Ted was one of the best movies of last year. So I'm excited for this.

As long as Seth MacFarlane keeps delivering these great flicks the sky is the limit for his career.

Because looks now like they sure won't be asking him to host award ceremonies or create live-action sitcoms...

I loved his Oscar hosting gig. The old fogies and snobs just dont like contemporary humor. He was Far FAR better than the tired old crap like Billy Crystal. I still wish Eddie Murphy had hosted like he was going to a couple years back.

Curious. I thought Charlize Theron hated toilet humor.

How about a trailer for this already? Isn't this supposed to come out in may or June this year?

oh this isn't going to be good - and I mean that in a good way

can't believe he got a cast like that. any bets that Ted will show up wondering through the background in some shot.

Can we hope for a modern raunchy western comedy somewhat on par with Blazing Saddles? *Prays*

Looks like fun NPH always plays the same character, could've been better if he is playing Giovanni Ribisi role.
Theron looks stunning

I have to wonder, with Seth MacFarlane going deeper into live action films, does this mean he's going to be dropping the animated shows. Cleveland Show got cancelled, American Dad is be shuttled to TBS, and his Flintstones relaunch didn't get picked up.

I'm a little disappointed by that trailer, to be honest. There's some pretty funny random moments, but overall I expected something more.
