Default refuting FUD on another forum

I just went to this forum:

http://www.subdemon.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0

and refuted some hd-dvd FUD. Feel free to go there and do the same.

I loved the vmd supporter saying hd and blu were ''over engineered''. the hd fanboys and the vmd tools (if there are any) should be great friends, they have so much in common.

VMD is good. Why bother with HD-DVD as VMD is cheaper.

Like when they post a pointless reply to a thread?

That is awesome. Thanks for doing that. And I've learned a bit more myself.

I saw quite a bit of what I thought was inaccurate data on the subject thread. Here's my understanding of the specs:

Blu-ray 48 mbs (max combined audio/video bit rate)
Blu-ray 40 mbs (max video bit rate)
HD DVD 30 mbs (max audio/video bit rate
HD DVD 27/28? mbs (max video bit rate)
Both formats support AVC and VC1 encoding.

Lossless/uncompressed PCM at 24/48 is basically a freebie for Blu-ray in terms of bandwidth; not so for HD DVD.
AVC simply hasn't been used by HD DVD; perhaps because VC-1 is a better fit for the available disc space ??
Less than 15% of HD DVDs have lossless audio but it is possible (if you give up available video bitrate and/or special features - not good enough for an HD format IMHO).

some of those comments are straight out of the Amir FUD book.

BDs scratch easier!! for gods sake, dont people check so called facts out these days.

some forums read like a chinese whispers party. I guess that is what MS brings to a format war.
