Firmware Upgrade Question - Blu-ray Forum

Please don't shoot the newbie.

I checked the firmware on my brand new (gift) BDP-S300 and it's at 2.2

I've read the firmware update notes but does anyone have a practical opinion about going to 3.3? Is it worth the effort?

Its normally a good idea to update the firmware as it can patch previous bugs and incompatabilities.

updates have also been known to speed up load times...as for the BDP-S300 specifically? I do not know.

Yes, upgrade the firmware or you might find that certain new movies won't play.

not by much, but it is a great idea to update for future compatibility

i burn to cd not dvd to do this since cd's cost less

I have the S300 and so far since I had it its been thru 2 updates and with each time you do an update just make the S300 much better overall.

I usually have Sony send me the updates in the mail it doesn't cost you a thing for this and you don't have to worry about the uppdate not working.
