Samsung BD-P1400 vs PS3 40 gig

I need y'all's opinion on this.

I'm getting my dad a blu ray player for xmas and I'm wondering what your opinion on the Samsung BD-P1400 vs the PS3 40 gig is.

Personally, I have a PS3 60 gig and love it, but I also play games on it and my dad will not play games on it.

On the plusses for the PS3 40 gig, I like it for him because its easy to upgrade, and can do so much. On the minuses, its loud, and I will have to get the remote since my dad cant use the ps3 controller, which is blue tooth and is not compatible with universal remotes.

On the Samsung plusses: Its $100 cheaper than ps3 and has a infra red based remote that will be compatible with universal remotes. On the minuses, its not as easy to update as ps3, and dont know anything on Samsung reliability.

Now, I know that the Samsung can play DTS HD MA through an upgrade, but thats not really a concern here since his receiver doesnt have an HDMI input. I'm not sure he would like to change it, since its a really nice receiver (Arcam).
