Bottoms (2023) Blu-ray coming from Kino!

Kino will be releasing Bottoms (2023) on Blu-ray on May 27! This is very surprising, yet welcome news. This was one of my favorite films from 2023 and I was losing hope of a BD release coming out. I was fortunate to see the film with the director and DP in attendance, and it was such a blast. You can read about that here. Kino's relaese comes with Kino did two new commentary tracks. One just with Director Emma Seligman, and another with Seligman, and stars Rachel Sennott, Ayo Edebiri, and several others.

Yeah that was my first thought after seeing this. If Amazon/MGM aren't bothered to release it, then I hope Kino can do Saltburn on 4K, and American Fiction too while they're at it.

It was only in theaters for a limited time. It's really funny though, albeit depending on the kind of humor you're into. I also highly recommend Emma Seligman's debut film Shiva Baby, if you haven't seen it yet.

I was hoping for this when I saw that KL had a 2020s title in their latest MGM deal. This is great news, been eagerly awaiting a Blu for this film and I can't wait to rewatch it, one of the best recent comedies

Is Kino the most low effort boutique label? It doesn’t seem they out a lot of effort into their releases as far as extras go.

So weird. Everyone I know is obsessed with this film and yet they give a 4K to Paint Your Wagon and Suspect Zero? Kino is like my Aunt who can't use a smartphone but for some reason pre-ordered a Rivian.

Kino said on Twitter they're going to reach out to Emma Seligman to see if she can do a commentary track, perhaps even with some cast members.

We will ask the director if she can record a commentary, maybe have some of the cast join her. Soon after that, we will release it.

I think KL has said that the reason they do some Paramount titles that seem a bit random on UHD is that Paramount has been creating 4K HDR masters of certain titles for their own digital library and has then been offering them to KL, and KL doesn't need to do anything expensive to get them ready for a disc, as a result.

Okay, but this film is 8 months old and already has a DV master...
