VCI is scheduled to release Santo In The Treasure of Dracula (1968), based on a 4K restoration, to Blu-ray on 9 Feb 2021.

This is with the noble intention of using the treasure to help fund a children's hospital. The original 1969 release of "Santo en El Tesoro de Drácula" was black-and-white and featured no nudity. The film was simultaneously shot in colour featuring full frontal nudity for European markets and finally released in Mexico in 2012 as "El Vampiro y el Sexo."

As excited as I am about this, it's still coming from VCI. Which means it will look like crap. Keep your expectations in check.

The street date is next week.

BATWOMAN/PANTHER WOMEN was pressed, and I expect the same for SANTO IN THE TREASURE OF DRACULA.

I am a huge Santo fan but don't know anything about the publisher. Can anybody give me some expectations and whether its worse the price tag?

In all honesty, VCI is considered to be a lesser tier label.

The soundtrack will be a newly-created English audio track, rather than original
Spanish with English subtitles.

That said, this is the first home video release of the European uncensored edition in color, so I am greatly looking forward to it.

Perhaps someday, the Criterion Collection will release a disc with both the black-and-white Spanish original and the European nudie/color version, but I won't hold my breath.

That's what kept me from jumping on the Batwoman/Panther Women release already.

A proper release would've included both the black-and-white and color versions of the Santo title, with original Spanish audio and English subtitles as well as English dubs. (I don't ask for much, do I?

Yep, it's only in English, a newly created English track as there never was one, and this new track is horrendous. It sounds "modern", the voices are just wrong, and everything sounds distant from the film itself. If the disc included the Spanish audio as well with English subtitles, this would be a no-brainer purchase. It's good to have the color nudity version, though, and I knew what this release would be going in, but I'm holding on to the Rise Above DVD's for the B/W Spanish-language versions.

There are trailers for other old Santo films on the disc and the back of the case under Extras says "Trailers: More New Santo Movies with English Soundtracks - all Coming Soon!" So we shall likely see these getting similar treatment: "Vs. Dracula and the Werewolf", "Revenge of the Mummy", "Vs. the Riders of Terror", "Revenge of La Llorona".

Only getting this because I feel like the nudity version of Dracula's Treasure is the film least likely to get a proper release. I will pass on any other English only releases
