Trailers are put together months in advance there is a final cut of a film. Why stuff is in a trailer. But can be removed mo the after the trailer is removed.

Can't tell what's gonna be removed mo tjs from now.

I can't remember an actor in a trailer not showing up in the actual movie but otherwise it doesn't sound that ridiculous to me.

This is a bit silly, I would certainly desire my money back if the actor or actress I went to see the film for wasn’t in it though 5 million is a bit much, trailers should be able to play what they like though without giving away the story… this could bode extremely unwell. These guys should be ashamed of themselves for finding a loophole in our legal system and essentially stealing 5 million dollars, it’s not like the viewer was promised a date followed by marriage and some kids birthed by Ana…

Rogue One is probably the worst offender. Most of the footage from the trailers wasn’t in the movie, including the big money shot with Jyn and the TIE fighter.

This particular case with the Yesterday trailer is just Ana de Armas stans being weird. The trailer came out before she became a big star. If you go through her credits it would say that her scenes in Yesterday were deleted (if the film is even listed at all).

In the article it mentions that Universal is afraid it will lead to lawsuits if movie goers don't like a film. I can sympathize, I feel that Disney owes me at least $10 million for the pain and suffering of seeing The Last Jedi.

I gotta love it when some people suddenly defend it like their life depends on it after they slam other studios for the exact same thing.

Too much is ruined by a trailer these days so I was always pleased there were a few shots of misdirection deliberately placed in the avengers' trailers. & if an appearance is cut, so be it. Trailers are put together months ahead of the finished product.

Surely the easy thing to do is flash a disclaimer at the start of the trailer like they do for video games which are unfinished?!

Utterly pathetic & utterly insane. That judge needs to get some help, or at the very least watch a bunch of movie trailers. It's very rare that one matches the finished film. If they win this case, the art of the trailer (already in steady decline) will be truly dead.

Also, does this mean that crazy lady from a few years back is going to try her lawsuit against the makers of Drive again because she thought the trailer made it look like a Fast & Furious movie?

I look forward to some Michael Keaton fans taking the makers of Morbius to court because he was in the trailer more than he was in the actual film.

It's silly and not silly at the same time.

If they showed Leonardo DiCaprio in a movie trailer, and I went and he wasn't in it, I'd be pretty pissed.

At the same time, the amount they are asking is the joke. Refund their ticket price.....

And yet, there's no way to do that. A theater won't refund for that reason, and you'll never speak to an actual representitive at the studio, so maybe it's more sending the message via the lawsuit?

I dunno.

The plaintiffs, Conor Woulfe of Maryland and Peter Michael Rosza of San Diego County, Calif., each paid $3.99 to rent “Yesterday” on Amazon Prime. They are seeking at least $5 million as representatives of a class of movie customers.

This is asinine. Movies aren't done when trailers are created, and sometimes some scenes simply don't work and need to be cut.

Anyone who thinks they deserve to be rewarded because they saw some shots that didn't end up in the final cut are idiots.

God, humanity is getting dumber and dumber and more entitled as the days go by.

Some classes of 'movie customers' shouldn't be allowed to watch movies.
