Default A Better Tomorrow Trilogy(KimchiDVD)

I've seen that KimchiDVD gonna release the whole trilogy as a limited edition.

Has this trilogy been released before so that somebody can tell how the PQ is? I only know about a HK-release, but the quality seems to be very disappointing.

there's a new restoration (just finished, literally) for ABT, but i'm unsure how to relate this to the idea of a new K release for the trilogy - might be too soon, too removed from the K market's activities, but ...

The trilogy is owned by Fortune Star and is available on Blu-ray in Hong Kong and Japan. They both use the same upscale transfer and don't look that great. They also have awful remixed 7.1 audio with added effects and generally terrible sound quality. The upcoming Korean release will most likely be the same upscale.

If you haven't been keeping up with this, basically Fortune Star own a majority of the old Hong Kong classics (mainly Golden Harvest stuff) and pretty don't give a shit. They've been providing upscaled video instead of true HD transfers and remixed 7.1 soundtracks. Not ALL their titles are upscales, but there's no rhyme or reason as to what is and what isn't.

Swordsman II and The East is Red are owned by a different company, so those not being upscales is completely unrelated.

And as somebody mentioned previously, the first movie has recently seen a 4K restoration. It will debut at this month at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
