Universal Sets Release Date for Judd Apatow's "Trainwreck"

Universal Pictures has set a Friday, July 24, 2015 as the release date for Trainwreck.

Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This Is 40) will direct Trainwreck, starring breakout comedic actress Amy Schumer ("Inside Amy Schumer").

The comedy, from a script written by Schumer and developed with Apatow, will be produced through his Apatow Productions alongside Barry Mendel (Bridesmaids, This Is 40).

No other film is scheduled for that date yet, though it's squeezed in between Warner Bros.' Batman vs. Superman (July 17, 2015) and Marvel's Ant-Man (July 31, 2015).

First off, I gotta say I'm a big Judd Apatow fan. And have liked everything he has either written/directed or produced. But I just don't find Amy Schumer the least bit funny. Again it's nice to see him using his name to help out women in the business. I just cannot stand her though. Plus that is a really bad release date. So unless it either moves or has some kinda Bridesmaids effect at the Box Office I don't see this making anything really.

Agree. Not unless their thinking those who can't get into that movie will see this one. I think this was also around the same release as Funny People was. And that sank at the BO in the middle of everything that summer.

It's really going to be a "trainwreck" when that movie comes out.

Ha. I was thinking that aswell. The title sets up the jokes itself. Maybe if they got someone funnier than this chick it wouldn't be so bad. She's just your basic raunchy look at me and my type of humor woman. See how funny I am.

I could not agree with this more. She is painfully unfunny. The only way this could be even less appealing is if they paired her up with Chelsea Handler.
For the first time ever, I HOPE an Apatow movie bombs at the box office (which it probably will).

Apatow is my favorite comedy director but this sounds awful.
I will give it a fair chance but I am as of now nota fan of Amy

Oh, god. I hate her even more. Any movie she's in I fast forward through her parts. No surprise her show got canned after so many eps on NBC.

And they say Amy is breakout? Break out from what? A couple spots on those Roasts, and a show on Comedy Central no one watches? She just tries really hard to be edgy and offending. When she's just boring.

Sounds good, apart from This is 40 I've loved all his films. Not familiar with this Amy lass though so I'm not fussed on that part

Bill Hader Eyes Leading Role in Judd Apatow's Trainwreck

Bill Hader is, according to a story today at Variety, eyeing a leading role in Judd Apatow's upcoming Trainwreck opposite the previously-announced Amy Schumer.

The comedy, from a script written by Schumer and developed with Apatow, will be produced through his Apatow Productions alongside Barry Mendel (Bridesmaids, This Is 40). Plot details are being kept secret at the moment, but the film is slated to hit the big screen on July 24, 2015.

Hader, best known for his work on "Saturday Night Live," voiced the lead character in last year's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and can be seen coming up in director Craig Johnson's comedy drama The Skeleton Twins, starring opposite fellow "SNL" alum Kristen Wiig
