Question Internal Blu-Ray READ-ONLY Drive for Desktop PCs!

Hi there,
While searching more and more for a BD drive for desktop PC, I realized that what I am geting is BD "burners" again and again!

Can you help me in finding an internal Blu-Ray Read-Only drive (not burner) for PC?

Regards,
Adeel.

As far as I know there isn't one. PC's can't play pressed movies anyways - what use is a play only drive?

It would be useful for data only BD burned discs.
I've got my karaoke collection on 18 DVDRs and would like to copy this data to just 2 DL BD-R discs.
If I wanted to use these 2 discs on another computer, then I would use a BD-ROM drive in a portable enclosure.

Sure they can. Nvidia has even posted some documentation on their website that shows what you need in terms of processor, video card, display device, software, etc.

I'd also like a read-only drive. I am building a media PC which has full support for HDCP, 1080p ...

yeah computers can play blu-ray you just have to make sure that you build everything in compliance. My guess though is that read only drives won't be avaliable till early next year for computers other than for oem purposes.

I know of a few people who have bought the Toshiba HD-DVD player (the $400 one) and removed the drive and installed it in a PC. Supposedly it works, although the earlier production runs do not support AACS in hardware so they can't be used to play back pressed HD-DVDs.

Unfortunately with the cheapest Blu-Ray set-top player going for around $800, it makes more sense to buy the $699 Sony writer ...
