100% no. There is no need of HD DVD playback when you have Blu-Ray

Sony will definately not make HD-DVD support, HD-DVD is being marketed by MSFT duh!. You do not need HD-DVD. By the end of this year Blu-Ray should have more players, more movies, and more users. HD-DVD will just disapear off the market. In fact it has already begun. ![]() Blu-Ray movies by mid 2007 will mostly be 50GB disks, even Mpeg 2 will look sweet on that. But many studios are jumping on the AVC band wagon, and other 3rd party studios such as Warner Bros will use VC1. The only way HD-DVD can stand a chance after november is have one of their partners release a $200 HD-DVD player. But even then it will be hard to compete with 400,000 PS3 users. That's sony's secret weapon. Even if people buy PS3 mainly for games. The games come in the sleak looking Blu-Ray cases, as of course they are BD-rom games, they will be intrested in Blu-Ray movies, since they play their games in HD, they will wonder what HD movies will look like eventually. This is when PS3 will start bury HD-DVD format once and for good. |

any idea what player is gona give the best quality? I plan to buy one soon and if IM gona spend a grand I damn sure dont wanna spend it on the one with less quality. You certainly cant rent them around here to see. I cant wait to finally see movies in it. Ive only seen videos played at circuitcity on a samsung and from what I hear there not to great? Seenms to be a waiting game.

You could always wait until they are all out and buy one hook it up and use a reference bd to rate the player, take it back and do the same w/the other blu-ray players to get the best looking one for your set up. Thats alot of buying and returning and scoring for each bd player though. It might be worth it if you want to get the best one for your tv.
