Default Would you want a Star Wars Darth Vader Spin-off movie? (Rogue One Spoilers inside)

WARNING: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR ROGUE ONE IN THIS THREAD SO PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Okay now that is out of the way, let's get into it.

I want a Darth Vader Spin-off, and if there's even a REMOTE chance that Disney sees this (near impossible) then we may just get this movie.

So I will just quote myself from what I posted prior to this thread, to give a basic idea of what I would love to see:

I would think that there could be potential for a Darth Vader spin-off movie.

I would prefer it being set not long after ROTS, before Rogue One, where he travels to other planets to hunt down and slaughter Jedi from their homes, which would be a good way to introduce Krennic and Galen Erso, Krennic to assemble a military team to help Vader take out whoever opposes him, and Galen to work on the Death Star.

This would give a much darker side to Vader which would show him at the very height of his dark power, with more scenes with his castle on Mustafar.

Set the movie style so we can see the story from Vaders point of view, as if he is the hero of the story and not the villain, so then the slogan of the movie could be "You will know the power of the Dark Side... on December 16th 2020" or something.

You could get a nice ton of references in the movie, but what would make me VERY happy is as Vader travels these "planets" to take out the remaining Jedi, he hires a Bounty Hunter from each planet he visits.

He hires and hires up to the point where the "last" Jedi is living on Coruscant, so Vader travels there with IG-88, Bossk and other Bounty Hunters from the OT, only to be met by resistance, to which we see the Bounty Hunters in all their glory taking them out.

Boba Fett inadvertently becomes a part of the fight and survives untouched. Vader notices Boba and hires him to find the "last" Jedi and keep him alive for Vader to kill.

Sorry for my ramblings on this, I just want to see a really good Darth Vader movie, because watching Hayden Christensen do that with Order 66 in ROTS didn't do Vader justice to me. We need to see Vader in his PRIME, show him as the feared icon he is throughout the Galaxy.

Of course, the purpose of that whole intro mission is Vader taking out a Jedi permanently by hunting him down.

So if anyone would like to add or take away from this then please go right ahead, I appreciate the input from other Star Wars fans and their knowledge of the Force.

You know what's interesting...When they showed that planet, somehow I just knew it was Mustafar but it didn't even say the name like when the movie introduced all others for the first time.

It has the biggest box office potential out of any spin-off they can do, so yeah, it's happening eventually. Especially since everyone seems to love how he was depicted in Rogue One, and his last scene being the highlight.

Have him hunt down and kill the remaining Jedi geeks from Rebels that contradict A New Hope and Luke's story.

The Vader/Annakin story has been resolved. His appearance in R1 was a treat. That's the last you'll see of him in my opinion.

Like I said in the other thread, it's a cool idea and I'd be there first showing. But it would be hard for it not to overlap with Rebels.

I had not heard of those characters before (female, black droid), but I'm on board for Vader's black protocol droid to be in it.

Agreed, Anakin/Vader has been the antagonist of one trilogy, the protagonist of another (I know not everyone loves how that was handled), and even now in death his legacy very much has an impact on the events of the third trilogy. On top of that he has just made a cool cameo appearance in Rogue One and can possibly be used in a similar fashion in future spin-offs that take place during the Empire's reign.

Go outside the live action films and you have him in The Clone Wars, Rebels and other works across several mediums. This is a character that's been covered extensively and, while I'll welcome him in a supporting role when it makes sense, I don't feel a strong need to ever see him as the main anything again. But hey, they're making a young(er) Han Solo film so you never know, anything is possible. Personally though, to make further movies about characters who already were the focus of the main saga is the most boring way possible to go about these spin-offs. The real exciting potential is in those characters whose stories haven't already been told.

But hey, right. As long as there is money to be made. Who cares. No need for original ideas anymore. Even if people say they want them. Just keep on making Prequels, Spin Off and Sequels.

Milk that sucker dry like you're in the dairy business. Because you know people will line up to see something if Star Wars is slapped on it. So no real need to come up with any other ideas besides that.

In Star Wars we trust. Can we get that JarJar Binks origins story, next Mesa Beso Happa then!

I have to agree. Given Disney's recent method of making a villain the star of a movie and somehow warping it to make them a hero figure, I don't want to see that. If I want a story on Vader hunting Jedi I'll replay The Force Unleashed

YES, DAMMIT, YES!!! I need Vader on the silver screen doing what he's meant to do: seek and destroy Jedi's and rebels, and anyone else who gets in his way. Star Wars: Darth Vader, (hopefully) coming to a theater near you in 2019/2020. Television isn't worthy enough for someone like him, IMO.

Threads in this forum should be for actual movies being made, along with strongly rumored movies. Movies someone would like to see shouldn't get a new thread.

The discussion was fine in the R1 thread, doesn't need to be duplicated here.

You should probably label this thread as fan-wank since people will probably see it or come in expecting it to be a legitimate thing.

It's not.

The reason why his last scene worked so well in Rogue One is because it just came out of nowhere. It was pretty frightening. Make an entire film about him and that element of surprise and tension goes away completely.

I think he works better in brief appearances, to be honest.

I am for a Darth Vader backstory that does away with the prequels. Most we will ever get is a cameo in a Boba Fett film.
