Simple question really. Do you buy them because your a collector and just wish to purchase for yourself or maybe you buy a few additional copies as well just to sell on when they appreciate in value so you can maybe make something back some day.

I don't consider myself a steelbook collector like some of the gents here, the ones I buy are usually the one's I like for the movie and the steelbook...I recently order Man on Fire steel from Play, I love that movie and the steelbook isn't bad looking at all..most of the steels that I have I usually keep for the long run.

I collect for myself to love and watch and cherish forever and ever. Thus, it's a bit of a secondary incentive that I buy them because they look better than the amaray versions (and I believe they may last longer).

For the most part, I just want something special for the movies I like.

Steelbook is my preferred case, so I will buy that over anything else. Then it's Digibook. Everything else I'm not fussed about.

I won't buy a movie I don't like just because it's a Steelbook*

*Except for the last three Pirates of The Caribbean sequels. I got II & III because they were park of Disney's ten week Steelbook run in December of '09 and I wanted to complete the set of thirteen titles. And I got the UK Steelbook of part four because it was £7 in HMV. I still won't sell them, regardless of the fact that I won't ever watch them.

Shame polls don't allow multiple options. To me, i absolutely love the look 90% of the time and would go with them if the price is right and i typically do.

My secondary reason is to kind of help bring income in since i'm a student and not in a regular job so i'll sell them when possible. That's another motivation recently but i absolutely love the look of them and the feel of them over regular amarays

I wouldn't like to be called a scalper tbh but if i was called that i would understand but i don't exactly buy 100s or 1000s, i usually buy what i can which is a modest amount on a students balance so i can raise a little more and grow my collection of steelbooks and buy more of the things i love. Wouldn't say the motivation is primarily greed and profiteering but when your selling stuff, thats naturally gonna be a small element for almost everyone to make the most possible and as much as they can.

people who buy these to make a sale a couple of years down the line are pathetic. you should be buying steelbooks because you love the movie you bought, not plan on ripping people off on ebay

buying an extra copy to sell every so often is ok but looking at ebay, there are people who buy every single steelbook avaible and charge double immediatley on ebay regardless of the fact that its only been out for a week, these people disgust me

Most of the time steelbooks have better art work and for potential resale value further down the line

If I had it my way I would vote on each question.

For myself because i'm a collector After getting 16 out of 20 WB BB SB, yeah! thats a collection in the making.

For myself as a collector and more hoping they appreciate one day It would be nice to own the next "FS IRON MAN". Who wouldn't want that?

For others I am willing to pick up SB for other people. Preferably for trade.

Because i have OCD and need all the artwork This is half right, I don't need all the artwork but if there is an Amaray version, a digibook or a steelbook of the same movie, then, Steelbook would be preferred.

Because they look better than amaray versions Anything looks better than Amaray cases

To sell but keep a copy myself If, in dire needs, then yes, it would be nice to profit off my sealed steelbooks.
