For the most part, I just want something special for the movies I like.

Steels are superior most of the time, if it is only an extra 2 quid, why would you not but the better option?

Because they look better than Amarays. Maybe it's also a collector's thing but still, buying Blu rays in itself is already building up a collection

I buy the version that is least likely to depreciate.

I apply that to everything really, not just movies/films.

It's a good way at looking at things. Where steelbooks are concerned, that means you keep more re-sale value should you need to sell one day or even appreciate sometimes.

I buy them because I like the like the look of them. I don't buy steelbook titles for movies I don't like, like some collectors do. Usually it just seems silly to not buy the steelbook version of a movie if its the same price as the regular version.

Square-Enix came out with Final Fantasy XII steelbook in 2006, and then there were xbox 360, ps3, xbox one, and ps4 steelbooks. It does not make sense for movies. Videogame steelbooks are worth more and make more sense. Even then, videogame steelbooks are nice, expensive things.

Either you are or you are . Something tells me that it's a little bit of both.

Tell that to the Gears of War: Judgment steelbook, which can be bought for a couple of quid now.

Watchdogs has 2. Both go for about 15 quid on ebay. Empty that is

But you have something like wolferstine or that awful looking fifa one go for under a tenner.

Tinker taylor solider spy regularly goes for under a fiver on ebay.

I personally buy steelbooks because i prefer the artwork. People think I'm mental but i love them as they look like they should cost 15 or 20 quid.

Same reason why i bought digi packs and the suit case sets

Because I collect things that I don't need to collect, but because I want to. A lot of those answers apply to me, can't pick just one. I've collected comics, posters, masks, action figures, t-shirts, steelbooks. I'm also a big movie person and actor, so anything movie related I'm usually interested in....

I buy them for movies I really like and I like to collect unique things. I'm not like some members here who buy 5 copies of the same movie though. If a steel comes out here for a movie I like then I get that version but if no steel is released I check other sites and judge if the cost is worth it for me.

LOL at this thread and that necropost.

Now to see how long it takes this to get dumped into the "Steelbook Collection Galleries" subforum.
