Default Sooooo...

I'm kinda confused as to why this was broken out into it's own sub-forum. It seems, at least to me, that it would have been a better idea to leave it attached to the main Digital Movie forum.

As Streaming is meant to be the future. I'm writing a Business essay on it at the moment (digital convergence, dis-intermediation, Porter's Five Forces etc). As internet connections get faster this is the way things are going. There will always be something great about looking at a collection of blus and thinking, "wow that's all mine" or "I have good memories watching these" or "gotta get the rest". Plus physical copies keep their price better.

Streaming is a blu-ray fans biggest enemy, so a sub-forum for it is strange. Personally, I tend to stream films which are impossible to get in my country.

I don't get why this has its own sub-forum either -- in many cases streaming and digital are interchangeable.

For instance, I stream all my VUDU movies so which sub-forum is most appropriate?

It was a rhetorical question as either sub-forum would be appropriate in such a case.

... I tend to think of streaming as watching movies I don't own (Netflix) and I tend to think of digital as movies to which I own a license (VUDU).

But really I stream both so it's (too) open to interpretation.

This subsection is likely meant more for the subscription-based streaming services, where the other subsection is more for EST (electronic sell-through) services where you click to buy a movie, then stream or download it.

I have to admit I had Netflix (bad out dated Canadian Netflix, but Netflix). I couldn't watch it it made DVD look like it was 1080p in comparison.

I mostly watch Netflix through the app on my PS3 and the picture quality is certainly better than when watching on a pc or laptop.

You can download copies of movies to your PC from Vudu as well. What about Amazon Instant Video as they stream movies also and they're listed under the Digital Movies forum.

That's surprising. We have Netflix and the quality is actually quite good. Perhaps it depends on the internet provider?

The majority of their stuff is HD and looks pretty good. I've posted this site in another thread in this forum but it's a great resource for Netflix: instantwatcher.com
It will show you what quality their movies are in and what's new to Netflix along with a bunch of other searchable things.
