Absolutely beautiful! 5PQ for the Blu-ray edition!

Edit: Forgot to mention: The edition I have in hand was manufactured in January of '08. High bitrate AVC encode with PCM track. All Universal Blu-rays released in January '08 are fresh transfers specifically for Blu-ray. This means high bitrate and PCM lossless.

Re-edit: Oh, upscaled from DVD? Why should I do that when I have the Blu-ray?

Oh, wait...wasn't supposed to mention Universal going Blu in January...Hope this doesn't screw up the timeline...again!

Well I tried boiling it, but it still won't work... it keeps saying that the disc is too low quality to work on a BD player, but that it's a little bit better than DVD so it won't work on those either.

I was serious. If you have 40 Year Old Virgin, it's about the same, which is pretty shitty to me.

The review on High Def Digest said it had too much yellow in the transfer so the fleshtones look "sickly." I didn't really see this in the DVD, but I guess the HD DVD could be different. Overall though, it's not an impressive release. Still funny as hell though.

people have different senses of humor...i thought knocked up was better than wedding crashers, anchorman, old school, etc, so to me it is not overrated

i think people use the terms overrated and underrated a little too loosely...if a lot of people like a film, how is it overrated? just because you dont like it doesn't make it overrated? you see what im sayin?

there are plenty of things i dont like as much as other people, and some are liked greatly, but that doesnt make them overrated

as far as the video goes, the DVD looks fantastic upscaled, so go ahead and buy it...i also rented the hd dvd at my local video store; i'm not gonna lie...it looks good, but again; i'm never gonna buy a comedy in an hd format...i just wanted to rent it to see the difference for once, which i have not done before

Compared to what? Spiderman 2 Superbit or Bad Boys 2 look fantastic upscaled . . . Knocked Up doesn't even come close to that, and even compared to DVD isn't that great. Most of Universal's DVD releases were/are overly noisy with colors that leave a lot to be desired.

Wow . . . differing opinions are allowed . . . a bit overboard on the response there.

i disagree with you...knocked up looks perfectly good on dvd...i think some of you are a little biased towards universal because of their loyalty to red. comedies are NEVER as good as action PQ wise, because they don't need to be to shine...thus it is very good...but, again, the hd dvd version looks 100 times better, but it doesnt add nething to the movie

I'm biased toward Universal because they have a long history of putting out poor quality releases, Knocked Up included, that continues even with HD-DVD. Just because it's a comedy is no excuse for the quality of the release to be poor.

I got the HDDVD..... (ok stop throwing tomatoes so i can finish ) I think it actually looks pretty good.... (okay, if you guys don't stop trowing fruit & veggies i'm not gonna finish )

Seriously though...I got the HDDVD and it looks decent. I didn't notice any of the yellow flesh-tones...everyone looks fine on both my sets. But whatever Bracke is a Dildohead. PQ probably on the same level as like Night at The Museum on Blu-ray, if I had to compare a title to it PQ wise.
