Hum/vibration Denon AVR-1706 help...

Hey everyone,

Tonight my Denon AVR-1706 started making a loud humming noise and it seems to be vibrating as well. I disconnected all of the speaker and input connections which didn't help. I tried plugging in the receiver into a wall outlet instead of the surge protector it is normally plugged into. That didn't help either.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what may be the problem or suggest any fixes? The hum/vibration happens intermittently and seems to be coming from the power transformer at the front of the receiver.

I doubt this would work. It sounds more serious that this, but the last time I had a hum in my sound system, a power cleaning Surge Bar solved my problem. I live in an old house, and the corruption on my power supply was introducing all kinds of interference into my set-up. Clean Power solved my issue.

With your problem though, Is the sound coming from the receiver itself? Could it be a cooling fan? If it has a cooling fan, and its gotten dirty, then that could be the intermittent sound you hear.

Just spit-balling here. Any more info?

There aren't any fans in the receiver and the sound is coming from inside the receiver. The sound is in the front left corner where the power button is located.

I'll probably hit the Denon site today and see if I can find any information there.
