Default 2.10 allows all PS1 games to be played via remote play

I know we have an official firmware thread but I think this news deserves it own thread.

Quote:
With today's PS3 firmware 2.10 update and PSP firmware 3.80 update, Sony has secretly updated the Remote Play functionality to allow playing of all PSone downloadable games AS WELL AS PS1 ORIGINAL DISCS! Straight to the source on the Playstation Forums. This is really interesting tech news!

so you can play ps1 games on your psp through your ps3? (i dont know much about this, I dont own a PSP)

it sort of "streams" the disc based ones to your ps3?

Also, could you paste the info from the playstation board? I cant access that website.

So do you have to be in range of your ps3 to work or could you:

1.) Be at work with your PSP, turn it on

2.) Your ps3 will turn on

3.) Then by accessing the internet via wireless and access your ps1 games from your PS3

Obviously I do not have a PSP but am relatively technical and see how this is possible but see a lot of complications. I definately see it possible to access the PS1 games anywhere in your home via Bluetooth (30 feet or more) effortlessly but this would be a neat feature but not a HOLY COW I need a PSP now sorta feature.

^ Either scenario should work.

Now we just need a Wireless-G/N model PSP for a more stable, higher bandwidth connection.

What's the point in owning a PSP when you already have a PS3 besides the portable functionality. Why would anyone wanna connect a PSP to a PS3 to play games? To me, it just doesn't make any sense.

You connect the the PS3 locally or through Wi-Fi.
You have a PS1 disc in the console already or a downloaded PS1 game.
The PSP acts a monitor for the streaming content coming from the PS3.
You start the game and play it on the PSP.

I can't paste the info from the PS board because I can't access it either. I just copied the links.

I know I can try it locally but I can never connect to my PS3 using Wi-fi my router hates the PS3. I can't use media server or anything.

Is this correct because this would definately be a HOLY SHITE I need a PSP feature!

Basically you are able to Remote Access your PS3 from anywhere in the world is that what you are telling me? Does the PSP have a WiFi built in? I'm sorry for all the questions but this is a MIND BLOWER!

remote play support has to be build into ps3 games by developers.
