I'm not a newbie, but the last couple of months I've noticed that while you can still set price tracking on the titles you are interested in you can't check and see the graph that used to show the price history of the titles. Did I miss something, I really liked that feature. Any info is appreciated.

Now that a few months have past since it has been gone, in all honesty it's removal hasn't affected me one bit. As before I set the highest price that I am prepared to pay, and get email alerts when it reaches that price or drops even lower.

I'm the exact opposite. I didn't think it was a big deal at first, but I could've really used it during Black Friday. Instead, I only bought 1 movie the whole week and it was from Walmart. I know losing my business isn't going to hurt Amazon, but selfishly, I'd love to see the tracker again someday.

When you're interested in a few hundred, it's just not possible to keep all that info in your head. And if you discover an older title that you'd like to now check out, there is no longer a price history on this site to use as reference so you can get caught up on the average and lowest prices over the years. I couldn't keep up if I had that many. I've never had that much on my price tracking list, I buy so many that what I want reduces quickly. Much of what I have bought from Amazon is often cheap, $7-$10 or lower, so for many titles I have wanted I have never had to put them on my tracking list. The most I've had on it is just over 250, and at that stage I thought it was a chore to scroll through the list. If I had 825 on my list I'd give up I think. My collection has cost me a lot of money, however if I consistently saw that many titles on my tracking list it would remind me of the financial commitment needed to purchase them all, making what I want feel much more out of reach, as well as how far I am from where I want my collection to be.

Man I HATE losing the history feature in the tracker. It really jacks my decision making. Sure I have some stuff set but even that stuff, for example, I might notice has for a period of time been consistently close to the new all time low and set it even more.
I am venturing an educated guess that I am in a substantial minority of folks who keep a eagle eye on long term price history and are very committed and patiently wait many months and sometimes even years for items to hit their price point and are thustly very affected by the loss of the price history feature. I just don't know what to do about ordering stuff because my strategy isn't just set the desired price and order; a lot of times I wait beyond that point either because of financial constraints or by design. Purposefully I like to see how something trends even after it's hit my set price tracker point. Sometimes it bites me in the ass but often times it goes even lower without having to wait much longer and that allows me to constantly repreprioritize my want list as new titles become available and that's incredibly valuable to me. |

Not sure if this is helpful to any of you or not, or more likely you guys already know, but you can put whatever titles you want into your Amazon cart, then save them for later. Every day or so just click on your cart (even empty) and it will tell you when titles have increased/decreased in price.
It isn't really a history per say, but can be helpful. For example, if you have been waiting on a big ticket item, such as a large box set that normally runs $130, then one day it drops to $70, your cart would give you a message saying it has dropped in price and by how much. |
