Default HD DVD Fan Advises Not to Buy HD DVD

At our xmas party i was talking with a few other guys. we were talking about hd cable and i was asking questions about pricing. i said all ive been watching thats hd is my blu-rays on my hdtv. one of the the guys i was talking to said he was thinking about picking up an hd dvd player cause he could get one for about $149. another guy chimed in and said not to, he admitted to owing the add on and said that hd dvd is going to lose pretty soon probably, and advised him to hold off on his purchase. i added that only 3 studios put out hd dvd movies. they guy thanked us for the info and said he was def. putting his purchase on hold.

Had a chance to close the deal on a Blu player?
Or is that under $150 price the only thing they were worried about?

We're having fun, but this can be a very real consequence of negative HD DVD news and/or rumors e.g. Business Week. People read of negative or possible negative developments for HD DVD and then tell their friends who tell their friends and so on. Ultimately, some people who might have considered an HD DVD player will not do so because news/rumors/word of mouth have caused them to be afraid to buy into what may be a soon-to-be-dead format. They'll wait until the situation becomes clearer or they just might buy a Blu-ray player, instead.
