Oh man, when I first saw the Title in the post, I was thinking of The Witches with Angelica Huston, which I desperately want on Blu!
Listed film is excellent as well though...

I think this is one of the least interesting in the Studiocanal Hammer catalog, and it's surprising to me they went for Vengeance of She and this one over like...The Reptile, or even Horror of Frankenstein/Scars of Dracula. I liked the climax, though.

I also thought for a second it was the Angelica Huston one. OP put the year in the subject, at least!

This is good news. IIRC, the Anchor Bay DVD of this film was widely considered defective.

The UK Blu of this is stunning, so I hope they don't waste their time with a new master.

I do like this film a lot. It helps if you like folk horror and don't mind an ending that goes off into a bizarre tangent after tons of atmosphere beforehand.

I was thinking and hoping the same thing. Actually thought, I know it's older now but it's not nearly that old. Was hoping someone messed up the thread title. Oh well...the wait continues. Was The Witches (1990) not a Warner title? Very possible Shout could get it.

I have the British releases of all Hammer '60s classics, but I'll certainly be willing to double-dip if they add some bonus features to these Region A releases, or if Shout releases "The Devil rides out" including the original version as well as the "improved by CGI" one, which is the only one available both in Australia and in UK blurays. I'm not very keen on revisionism when it comes to horror classics. Tampering with the special effects in this awesome movie is not something that should have been done.

The Ted Newsom commentary track on this release is freaking hysterical. His not-quite-PC style and take-no-prisoners approach to critiquing the film takes a little time to warm up to, but by the end of the film I was almost in tears.

I have the studiocanal version with almost no extras other than a hammer documentary that I haven't seen. the shout audio commentary sounds interesting, given how ridiculous and awful this movie is for most of its duration. Certainly for me the weakest of the hammer efforts I've seen.

It looks great though but other than that I cannot recommend this film at all, even though I'm a hammerist and a completist.

For those of you who have seen it, I'm a fanatical cat person so I was hoping that at some point anyone would explain the significance of that cat but they never did.
